It's not spring yet but bugs are out already

They seem to be everywhere. It must have been the higher temperatures (although it's still wet and cloudy) that drove them out. Bugs are the only thing that I hate about spring. And almost every spring I get a bug bite of some sort. I hope this one will pass without bites and stings. Are there many bugs in your area in spring? PS: the photo is of spring in Jordan

@shaggin yes you should be very careful of that. It's safer to keep away from dogs in spring and in late summer.

Mosquitoes are here already. They never really go away. They survive the coldest Weather here.

@Madshadi DonĀ“t think so but they do get in when you open the doors of the house itself. That is how they get in. They are born to survive.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I didn't know that mosquitoes can survive in cold weather, outside.

Maybe they hide indoors where it's warm.

I hardly get bug bits. Do you use some of bug spray on yourself?

@Madshadi Eeek! Do they have some sort of jacket you can wear to repel?

I wish I could. Due to my work the spray would be ineffective. I mostly got those bites while in the water and when I get my shoulders out. Maybe they get attracted to a wet skin.

We are trying something new this year. The coffee drinkers in the house are saving the coffee grounds. This will be spread in the garden area and at the base of the trees closer to the house. This is supposed to keep some of the bugs away. Hoping it works!

I never heard of that before. I hope that it is not bad for the trees.

I only have to deal with mosquitoes when I travel abroad. Some of their bites can be light and last a day or two but some can be very painful, itchy and last for several weeks. I guess it depends on the type of mosquitoes and on the temperatures.

I think that is just part of the ecosystem. We are still having bouts of freezing yet, don't really expect much trouble until the frost and freezing sessions are finished. Know what I mean?
