Our pet ducks

I read a post by @JamesHxstatic about the woman who brings her chickens into her home and I mentioned to him that we use to do that with ducks when we were kids and he said he would be interested in reading about it. So @JamesHxstatic this ones for you. When were were young we always had animals of some sort. We had dogs, cats, rabbits, a pig, geese, guineas pigs, hamsters, etc. Dad decided one year that we were going to get some ducks. We got two mallard ducks, a male and a female. We called them Mork and Mindy. We use to take them for walks to the neighbors house. They slept outside in their pen but throughout the day we bring them inside when we came in to watch TV. We'd just open the door and they would walk right in. It was too cute. When Mindy started laying eggs we started to hatch little ducklings. They were so sweet. We would watch then break their shells away and their tiny little webbed feet would break through or their little beaks. It was so exciting for us. They are able to swim the same day that they are born. Mom had this big washtub and we would bring it in the house and let the little ducklings swim in it. We could have left it outside but Mom and Dad didn't seem to mind when we brought them in the house to swim. There was one year we had about 6-7 little ducklings. We were going away for the weekend to these camps that we use to go to every year. We packed up all the ducks and loaded them in the station wagon along with mom, dad, the four of us and one of the neighborhood kids and off we went. While we were there we would take the little ducklings down to the lake and let them swim around. All the kids there were at our camp because they wanted to spend time with the little ducklings. We had so much fun with them. Those were good times and some of my childhood memories that I treasure.

Our neighbour had a pet silver fox. Rocky would walk into our house for a visit. He would also climb up on the garage roof. Rocky met his demise because he wasn't afraid of dogs. A dog from the next block didn't play nice...as far as that dig was concerned....rocky was a fox...the enemy...it didn't end well.

Oh your so lucky, I'm sure they were so adorable! It put a smile on my face thinking about them following you in the house and then the ducklings swimming around in the tub. Lol. Thanks for sharing this!

We had a duck that hung around our yard one fall. It had to have been someone's pet. It would peck at our front door and then walk through the house to the back door. We kept a baby pool full for it. It would fly from other yards to us when we called it. It was so cool.

@Happy2BeMe I had pondered rabbits, just never had one, and not sure what all one needs, and if they can be paper trained.

Aside the the dogs and cats I would say the rabbits. They are similar to cats in so many ways.
