No one cares if you butt in here at mylot... or do they?

Quite some time back I wrote a post on mylot about how on facebook people get mad sometimes if you butt in on a conversation. I wrote a post about how I loved mylot because no one gets mad about people butting in here. We can comment on others comments and no one gets mad... Well I was wrong and found that there are many here at mylot who do not want you to comment to others on their comments as if I remember correctly they consider it highjacking a post. I was telling another mylotter about this today. Since the post had gotten deleted I wasn't able to jot down a note to myself about who not to "hijack" so I figure I should just write this post and find out how others here feel.

I find it interesting when that happens - and I don't mind a bit if people want to have conversations on my post, even if it's nothing to do with the actual post. If you were in a roomful of people in real life they wouldn't all stick to the same topic, would they? No - they'd start conversations of their own, even if they were in your house.

I have known a few members to be unhappy about this. To me it seems illogical to object because the discussion author will earn revenue from such interactions. I have a few friends here who reply to comments of mine, resulting in long conversations. I do the same at times.

I have had a few people who go off and have their own long conversations on my posts or comments and it doesn't bother me in the least. I do know that even though it does earn us money there still are some people who do not like it.

@shaggin Sometimes it appears that they have taken the topic off course but if you have time to read all of the commentts made they just follow a trail like an offline conversation would.

I try to watch others who do it so then I know it is okay if I do it to them. It does all help us earn when people interact on our posts so to me it doesn't make much sense for people to get upset but maybe they have a good reason I don't know about who knows just trying to be nice and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Quite a few people are like that here...I know of a couple so ignore them totally now I remember some time ago someone made a post the exact opposite of yours saying she didn't like discussions wandering and plenty of people agreed with her Personally I think people like that should think whether they actually want to be on a discussion site

That is a good point really maybe those who get really irritated about it might be better off on another site. I rarely ignore anyone's posts but some people who never reply to comments I stop reading what they have written...Or those who are mean I avoid.

There are actually a lot of people who feel it is "hijacking" a discussion when we do this, but most of them seem to be ones who have found this site since it has begun paying again ... and many are from the "B" site, but I do not believe that all newcomers from the "B" site are like this.

I do remember quite a few people saying they did not like the hijacking but unfortunately I did not get to write down who they were so I am hoping to do that this time around. I was shocked when I wrote that post and learned people call it this and do not like it since it does earn money.

Ah, so far I don't really see anyone who says they'll mind that from responses here... I think it's just a few who would mind and the majority would not... In fact, the one who I know for sure hates it has not been very active on here anymore for a long time... And the few who think they don't like it will probably change their mind once they realize how fun and fast the so-called hijacking could help increase their bank...

@sishy7 Well the first two days of March I earned around 50 cents and yesterday I earned 83 cents so I think all the hijacking in this post as well as all the comments and interaction I have done sure paid off. So far going through the comments I haven't seen anyone not wanting us to hijack their comments. That is good but maybe they are afraid to post here and admit it. Hopefully they will private message me then if that is the case.

@shaggin I don't think you'll ever "get on top" of that list. With new users coming in daily, even if they don't all stay, there are bound to be more and more people with differing opinions on it. I honestly don't think it's a "discussion" site without people "butting" in.

As far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier! Anyone can barge in on my posts and in my responses - and many do too! Some have something to add to the conversation taking place at the time and others, usually friends who have been absent or with whom I have had no contact of late, just drop in and leave a 'ninja' emote and that is fun! It's good to see them and I then go and fish them out somewhere else. Iknow that some don't like it when it happens but I also know dor sure that others who didn't like it once have now understood that it benefits them both in monetary terms but also gains them new friends (often fun ones), Whoever joins myLot and just wants to sit in a corner and be all alone will soon be complaining that myLot is not worth their time etc. Their loss and they would be better to go to article writing sites rather than here on a discussion site *updated* This post is at the top of the 'hot discussions' list now. Why? Because of all of the activity - much of it caused by other people butting in. Surely that is proof enough, for those who don't want it on their posts, that it gives a discussion more visibility which in turn brings more earnings as more people can see it?

The updated part of this comment you wrote proves a great point. I have enjoyed reading the comments you and your mylot friends have had here. You all sure do have a good time and I agree it a lot more fun when people but in and get a good conversation going..And keep it going! So when someone hasn't been here website that you interact with they find you and write a ninja on one of your comments and that to you means they want you to join in on a conversation?

@shaggin It is a sort of 'fun code' which implies that they saw me and they are letting me know that they are around too. Has it never happened to you that someone rings your doorbell and then hides out of view and you open the door and no-one is there - then they reappear to surprise you? The ninja emote used like that is the same sort of thing I'll leave one somewhere for you one day soon when you least expect it and you can let us know what your reaction is when you see it

I don't mind when it is real, but some people seem to go to a post and then make generic comments on every comment which is what I consider hijacking. If you have a real conversation it is great, it just expands the topic. So feel free to jump in on any of mine since you make great comments!!

Ahh yes I have seen that as well and it is annoying. They just put a thumbs up on every comment etc. I do not understand the point of them doing that at all. One person so finally said something to it about it how it would be better if he said something of value to add to the discussion to help his earnings. I never saw him again on here after that so maybe he blocked me which is fine.
