I was watching a tv news programme, about how the fourth corner plinth of nelsons column in Trafalger Square, has been given over to modern art sculptures. This happened a few years ago, artists from all over the world can present sculptures for consideration, it is the most competitive contemporary art prize in the UK.
But ..., most of the winners ..., including last years, are .., in my opinion rubbish, last years is a bronze statue, of a 23ft high hand, painted black, clenched in the thumbs up pose... and the thumb is quite elongated, see post photo.
The sculpture is titled ' Really Good', and is said to represent positivity and 'the best of us', but the best of who..? London? Or England? People,? Humanity, And ..., I don't know about you, but .., if you need to be told what it means..., it doesn't work, I don't understand this type of contemporary art... at all..., but I do appreciate the workmanship that has gone into the sculptures.
There is now a competition for the next sculpture to win the prize of being displayed in one of Londons most famous ... most visited, public squares.
Click on the link below, to view some of the present contenders....

One of the five on the shortlist, features a drone on the sculpture, supposedly as a comment on the amount of 'spying' that goes on in our world...., if it wins, visitors to Trafalger Square will be able to download a link, offering them a live stream video of the area from the drone’s point of view.
