An Insomniac's Midnight Interlude

Everyone asleep except me.
What does an insomniac do at this unholy hour?
Write a poem (but of course!)
and interact with other mylot nightowls or early morning larks depending on what part of the world you live in.
Tonight I shall be your host
Welcome to my ancestral home
of disembowelled ghouls and unshriven souls
(Chains rattling in the background)
A long dead alcoholic uncle is taking a piss,
leaving unsightly footprints on the tiled floor
(Damn! I just clean the bathroom)
Hidden inside murky rooms
drape and muted in eerie silence
the ancient ones are stirring,
from earth encrusted coffins
they rise..
Oh, what a ruckus they make!
Overgrown teeny boppers
gyrating to the beat
of rap and hip hop
Night turns into a monochrome of black and white
and I slowly disintegrate and fade
into the sepia of an age long forgotten
(and best left alone)
Once upon a time
I was a gentle lady
filled with love and
life was beautiful
But fate frowns upon happy souls
Werewolfs and vampires
were never meant to be together
and for star-crossed lovers
the unchartered path to eternal damnation
awaits
Karma is a b*tch
reincarnation... purgatory
transfiguration...not cool
Poof!
I am a spider weaving her web
in a dark nook covered in dust
waiting to pounce upon
the unwary traveller
lost in this labyrinth
we call life...
(intermezzo)
"Suddenly there came a tapping"
No, not Poe's raven
long since immigrated to parts
unbeknownst to Donald Trump
PIZZA!
It's the delivery boy from Pizza Hut
come bring my midnight snack
"Nevermore, nevermore!" he croak
as I shut the door...
forgetting his tip

@louievill _It's a public domain photo. But it looks much sturdier compared to our ancestral home.

@josie_ oh yes sorry I failed to read that it was publc domain our ancestral home was torched by Filipino and American forces so the advancing Japanese would not be able to use it, what a pity it was not preserved.

@louievill _They should have spared your ancestral home if it didn't serve any strategic military purpose.

@FayeHazel _If they could turn down the noise a bit, perhaps I could.
