The death of a friendship

United States
March 9, 2017 11:56am CST
Some friendships are short-lived, while others live indefinitely. Some are meant to be, others are not. We must learn to tell the difference and let go at the right time. The right time is now. I thought we would get along just fine. We helped you in your home search, we went above and beyond. We welcomed you to our home. Then you called me names on Facebook. How do you consider that friendship? Tell me, how? Never mind, I’d rather not hear from you ever again. You are dead to me. Photo from Pixabay

The social media are killing friendships in our days, I feel that those sites are becoming negative.

It's sad to hear that someone you considered a friend turned on you this way

It started during the election and his point of view is obviously the only one and the rest of the world are words I can't use here.

I am sorry that happened to you. It reminds me of a couple my parents were real chummy with.. They had them to their home and vice versa. Then, there was a falling out. It really surprised me because they had been so close.

I have known him online for 8 years - but he's quite different now than even a year ago. His true colors came out during the last 8 or 9 months.

So many times anymore there are too many people out there that are like this. We had a lot of this type of behavior ourselves in the last 2 yrs. Many times they just do not see the real picture and in reality most of the time when they finally do, they have hurt so many people no one can Trust them anymore.

Having differing opinions on topics is normal, but when you call someone unpatriotic and some words I can't say here( because I don't agree with him/them, is pushing my limit.

Yes, especially someone you met 8 years ago and have been online friend all that time. Then to finally meet in person and it all blows up.

It isn't Facebook that caused the situation - it's people who say it's their way and the rest of us are all wrong. FB is just the medium used to let it all out.

You just never truly know how some people are, they are only out for themselves, you are better off without them.

Sometimes you just got to walk away, close that door and never look back. Been there a few times and my life is much better without them. Sorry it happened to you.

Thanks, I really didn't see this coming which is why it was a shock. But, I'm too old to get 'abused' verbally by anyone.

Some people are only in our lives to leave a mark, to push or pull us in a certain direction, to test us and to tease us. Looking back, many years later you can see how each has been a part of what has forged you into the person you have/are to become.

It's sad when this happens. I don't know why people have to bad-mouth others on FB. It's cowardly for starters.

We met online at a writing site in 08. It's just been two years ago that we met in person. We helped them find a home near our area but they only come on vacations - they won't move down here for a few more years.

When the actual 'friend' says it on FB for the world to read it is worse.
