A Goat in a Bath

What to post about? I could say my bull-ant bitten toe is much better. The blisters seem to have imploded so the toe still looks a bit gross. The concert well off well although it got very cold towards the end of the night. I might have a photo later if there is something worth putting up. So in desperation I was going through old photos and came across this of a goat taking a bath – or maybe it was a nap. Anyway it made a cute photo. Goats with horns like this (or any horns of any length) often tip their head back and scratch their back or side with the tip of their horn. I wonder if this is a learned action or if one day it just happens accidently?

@dfollin I have a friend who can't have a bath in their tub because she can't get out of it.

@Asylum I'm VERY pleased about that. I was beginning to feel a bit battered and bruised there for a while.

The photo is cute. I have seen them tipping their head back to scratch their back, I think it is a genetic reaction.

@LadyDuck It would probably be a very warm spot for them in an iron bath.

Maybe they're a bit like cats and boxes and like the feeling of being 'enclosed'.

@JudyEv I think I prefer cats in boxes, goats need boxes that are far too big!

when i saw the thumbnail, i thought it was a drawing because the goat blended so well with the tub and the sunlight. my mother likes how young goats jump about. all i know about goats is they'll eat anything!

That is neat goats have figured out to use their horns to scratch their itches. What a cute photo. I love seeing all the different uses with old tubs.

We grew mint in one so that wouldn't spread all over the garden. And there must be dozens and dozens used as water-troughs for stock. We have one and we've put a big log in it as, if the water level gets down a bit, wild birds can fall in while trying to get a drink and then drown. With the log there they can clamber out. That's the plan anyway.

Lovely pic! It isn't everyday that you see a goat in a bath. I'm guessing, it is a learned action - goats scratching their backs by tilting their heads back.

Congratulations! You hosted a successful concert again.Maybe the goat does it by instinct. I just knew that a goat's horns were used to defend itself before now.
