MyLot Members: Do youknow what plagarism means?

According to Dictionary.com plagiarism is: "an act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author" One example of plagiarism I see here on myLot is when someone takes a bunch of information from a reference sources or other online sources and copies the information word for word. Cal that what it is - plagiarism. If I was to write a story on the characteristics of a yellow lab I could find many reference source as there are hundreds of them. The only way I could use one of those reference sources would be to write an article using my own words and then put a link to one of those sources. I cannot copy any of that reference source and call it my work. Most of us who have written online for years at places like Associated Content/Yahoo understand the concept quite clearly. Anyone writing here at myLot should read and understand the guidelines. If you see this type of plagiarism you should 'report' it.
