MyLot Members: Do youknow what plagarism means?

According to Dictionary.com plagiarism is: "an act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author" One example of plagiarism I see here on myLot is when someone takes a bunch of information from a reference sources or other online sources and copies the information word for word. Cal that what it is - plagiarism. If I was to write a story on the characteristics of a yellow lab I could find many reference source as there are hundreds of them. The only way I could use one of those reference sources would be to write an article using my own words and then put a link to one of those sources. I cannot copy any of that reference source and call it my work. Most of us who have written online for years at places like Associated Content/Yahoo understand the concept quite clearly. Anyone writing here at myLot should read and understand the guidelines. If you see this type of plagiarism you should 'report' it. As per the myLot Guidelines: Posting plagiarized or copyrighted content - We take this very seriously. If there is an article you would like others to see and discuss, then post a link to that article along with your own commentary. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/plagiarism Photo from Pixbay

I tried to play jarrism once, it left me feeling at odds, unsatisfied... Creating something new, that's where the joy of writing really comes from.

I have seen users on myLot plagiarizing the discussions of other users (it already happened twice to me). This is ridiculous and they are easily caught.

@AbbyGreenhill Yes, he immediately deletes the offending posts, but not always he deletes the account of the plagiarists.

@AbbyGreenhill yes, and it seems these people are happy stealing others' property as well. they don't even have the notion where their souls will be when they die.

This is always a problem in writing sites. I remember when a not-so friend in the old Friendster social media copy pasted my bio. Hey she is not me. I am not her! I immediately sent her a message to change hers. And she was explaining that she felt that the words I used were also fit for her.

Be it here or any other sites, plagiarism is definitely a no. Whether they know this rule or not, copying others work is wrong. Ones should know that common sense.

You would assume everyone knows it .... some do it on purpose and some maybe accidentally. But it's still wrong.

I write blogs now and I never use anyone elses work, unless I just give a link to their work for others to read and they make money.
