Welcome To My World

Canada

i know I was saying there was no snow this winter...but it arrived a couple of days ago. According to the weather news it will be over later today. We have feet, not inches and looking outside it looks like a winter wonderland. My husband took off for the Y to sit in the steam room and I will be interested when he gets home if the highway is clear. If it is I might go to the Y for water aerobics later today. So winter decided to kick us in the backside in Mid March this year...sigh... I was up early yesterday and today and put on the boots, coat ,hat and gloves and shoveled off the porch, the walk way and the driveway until the newspaper popped up in my shovel.. A horrible accident happened on the highway near my daughter's place. Massive mess of huge trucks and cars...one truck carrying chemicals, one killed and I think 18 hospitalized because of the chemicals... The photo above was taken yesterday early morning and one a bit later. The snow outlined by the street light was interesting... Spring is around the corner...
More than two dozen people were taken to hospital in Kingston, Ont., after a 30-vehicle crash on Highway 401 east of the city closed the highway in both directions.

I really had been lulled into a false sense that spring had arrived when we got hit with that snowstorm yesterday. Today the outside world doesn't look much different than yours. That accident was horrible.

I am seeing a lot of melting going on and I hope this will be the last snow we see...but here in Canada, we never know...

Spring might be on the 20th, but not so sure will be rid of what winter is doing to us! Hope you have an early thaw there and some warm weather.

We're getting about the same. We got over 2 feet yesterday, and more piling up today! Some areas still have a state of emergency!

It's been a strange season for everyone I think, we had an early winter .... ok, compared to where you are I'd have to call it fall .... and now it's spring already, it's early even for this desert which used to get cold from January to the beginning of March then the trees would start to bud in late march but that's all changed here as well, my trees are already full of tiny leaves and now I'm waiting for the China Berry blossoms to open. Even the bees have bee around lately, I'm so glad to see those little kritters. I hope that chemical spill wasn't too close to where your daughter lives.

It was on a major highway and about 45 min. drive to my daughter in the boonies...It was just scary for me because my son and son in law were heading out to plow for the night and did find out before they left the house so they could stay a long way away from the chemicals.

Winter is a bad time when accidents can happen. I hope you were able to make it aerobics that day. Nice aim for the newspaper but I bet it was very wet hitting the shovel with snow on it.

In the winter the paper is in a plastic bag so the snow doesn’t get near it.

That is so awful about the accident. Here I only heard of one accident and none in the county I live in. I hope your husband arrived home safely. We weren't allowed to go out during the storm as they declared it a state of emergency and only emergency crew were allowed to be on the roads.

@PainsOnSlate Maybe the poor guy was just trying to get done with work so he could get home to his family. That is really heartbreaking.

Oh wow so sorry to hear of the accident we had one up the road from me where a snow plow flipped over in a ditch and driver trapped - never did hear an update on that. We got 6 inches of snow where i am but other places got a foot or more near me. I go back to work today so hoping I don't get stuck in my driveway lol.

I did get to the Y. Our neighborhood roads were full of snow and sand but the highways were clear and dry. Amazing how fast they can get the roads plowed.

That is the ravine behind our house, its governemt land that will never be cut or built on ( green space) and is the reason we bought this house. We love it all year long. The street light next to our driveway is fun because just a look at that light we know what is happening with our weather even in the dark...

it was the chemicals that sent a lot of people to the hospitals that day, its scary thinking what might be next to you on the highway.

I joined the WMCA, its an organization that is for exercise and entertainment. Water aerobics is exercise done to music in the pool, its a very popular to older people who can't do the more difficult work out. There is a leader telling you what to do as he does the movements on the floor next to the pool. Here is a list of the things we have at our "Y"... 25 metre four lane pool with chair lift Leisure pool with swirlpool, spray features and sloped entry, on deck sauna Two lane indoor walking track Multipurpose rooms Fitness Centre with cardio and strength training equipment Family changeroom Childminding Cyclefit Studio
