I'm not a pretty sight. I believe I have sun poisoning, because I recognize the signs. Tingling above my lip and to the side of my nose Bubbling of the skin Itchiness Sunburn How did I get that, you may or may not wonder? I went outside to see a friend's new car on Sunday in the morning without wearing sunblock. We talked for over an hour. At least I wore large sunglasses, so my eyes aren't swollen shut. Tonight I have my brother's birthday dinner in a restaurant and on Friday, I have to attend a friend's annual St. Patrick's Day party. I've been a shut in trying to heal myself with no results. Anything special I should be doing?

Do you have aloe ? Vinegar always helped me with getting the heat out of my skin too. Bless you the goodies on your coffee table look so yummy.

I do have aloe! I never thought of it. I just tried the vinegar. Now I'll apply the aloe. Thanks so much for the suggestion, Marie. I look hideous! Lol. I wish I could send you the goodies as a thank you!

If you can, get the real deal aloe (break off from the plant!). I've gotten a couple organic aloe vera plants to keep around, and that stuff has been the best stuff for burns (sun or stove ). Keep drinking too (water, that is ). Hope you feel ok for the parties!!

They are growing outside. I will sneak some when it's dark, or the condo association will report me! Good idea and thanks.

Ouch! Isn't it recommended to keep the skin lubricated while it is healing? Coconut oil is what we would probably use. And yes, as food snobs we just happen to have some organic in our kitchen. That might be the old fashioned way of doing things.

Look that one up first i'm not sure an oil would be good. Some things hurt the burn more then help

Ouch is right! I'm not a food snob, lol, but I do have organic coconut oil in the kitchen cabinet. I'll smear that on, after the aloe does its thing. Thanks!

The only thing that helped me was Solarcaine Gel, it contains aloe and it is great to restore skin moisture and to relief sunburn. Good luck Dianne.

@LadyDuck You are doing the right thing, Anna. I usually can handle the sun with sunblock. I love being outside in the sun or swimming.

I fry if I don't wear sunblock when I am out in the sun for any length of time. I even use lip balm with sunblock. When I am in the sun for more than 10 minutes I am fried to a crisp unless I wear sunblock. When I did get a burn I would use aloe with lidocaine to ease the sting and promote healing. Also had to stay out of the sun for a while too.

I always wear sunblock, but didn't realize I would be spending so much time gabbing outside. I won't be sunning myself until I heal. It hurts, too! Never a dull moment.

i don't know. my middle son 30 yrs ago when he was 5 yrs got sun poisoning, (here in florida of course) and we took him to the doctor where he got some shots which i can't remember what they were. he was miserable for a few weeks. my mom had been watching him for a few hours and didn't realize. we was visiting again and went back to Ohio. i think there are just some people Florida don't like. sadly.

Did you really get that sunburned after being out in the sun for only an hour? Oh yeah, I forgot that you are not a native Floridian. Much different experience than those of us who grew up in this brutal sunshine. I can probably go about 5 hours in the sun before I get a bad sunburn. I think having Native American blood in me also helps.

@DianneN Well, I was born here, for starters, so I think that helps. And secondly, I have Native American blood in me from both my mom and my dad's side of the family, so I think that gives me slightly darker skin than most people. Even when I haven't been out in the sun in months I still look tan.

Aw, did the sun bite you? I had giggle , crud face, seriously? Lol, shucks! Oh! Yeah! Lavendar oil (being careful not get the scent, but the actual plant oil) applied topically can fade a burn. It works but takes , like, overnight.

@Morleyhunt . That reminds me of golfer tan and driving with the left arm sticking of of the car! My doctor told me to wear sunscreen even in the winter and on cloudy days. This was my third time getting sun poisoning and each time it was in Florida. Otherwise, I put it on every morning and at the pool or beach.

@DianneN the only time I remember having a bad sunburn on my face was when my children were small, hubby was off work with pneumonia....and I tied grapes to get groceries. My hands and face were exposed to the sun and wind (temperatures were below freezing) and I never gave sunscreen a thought. I ended up with an awesome tan..,in March....too bad it ended at my neck and wrists.
