Nullarbor Links is an 18-hole par 73 golf course which stretches from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to Ceduna in South Australia. Eleven holes were created along the way to add to seven existing holes.
Players purchase a score card at either end of the 1,365 kilometre course which follows the Eyre Highway along the south coast and across the Nullarbor Plain. A the completion of the 18 holes, providing the card has been signed at each hole along the way, a certificate is issued for playing 'the world's longest golf course'.
Here are some trivia about the course which was opened in 2009:
• Consultant for the project was a professional golfer from Manchester, England, Robert Stock.
• Average distance between holes – 66 kilometres
• Two holes are almost 200 kms apart
• The shortest hole is 125 metres and named Brumby's Run
• The longest hole is 538 metres (Dingo's Den)
• The Wombat hole (520m) commemorates the nearby colony of southern hairy-nosed wombats
• The hole at Balladonia is called Skylab commemorating the fall of parts of the spacecraft in the area in 1979.
• Hole 6 (160 metres) at Border Village, South Australia, has a giant kangaroo at the roadhouse near the fairway. He is known as Rooey II. The 'Don Harrington Tee' is named in honour of Don Harrington who was part-owner of some five roadhouses along the Eyre Highway.

I won't be here now till maybe much later. We're off to a horse endurance ride. Often we volunteer and help but this time we're indulging ourselves and taking photos.

Are there no standard measurements for a golf course?

We took a LOT of photos but most of time were not focussed very well. I need more practice!

I'm sure every place has its charms. I've been picking out the 'eyes' perhaps. :)

My husband enjoys golf. I suggested if we ever made it to Australia he might want to play this course.
