Apartment Inspections - confusing memos!

Someone at the housing authority's office must be getting ready for April Fool's Day a little early. Two memo's came in from the office today, a couple of hours apart. The first one said that an inspection will be happening in our apartments the first week of April. A second memo came in that said an inspection will be happening on Monday. lol I'll definitely be ready for Monday and then I guess I'll ask them about April. Not that I expect a real answer. I think they like fooling with us! 'tis the season! Claudia

It is the fault of whoever put the information into the computer in the first place Anna then they blame it on the computer!

Best to be prepared. Work on cleaning the kitchen and bathroom and hide the clutter in other rooms in case they come early. If the bathroom and kitchen are sparkling, they may not even look at the other rooms.

They go into every room (there are only three, really, counting the bathroom), but it's not a problem. The kitchen got a good cleaning yesterday. I did the bathroom today and vacuumed the bedroom carpet, as well. The only real clutter is in boxes that aren't in anyone's way. They make sure closet doors don't stick. They check our emergency pulls. Last time they came my smoke alarm wasn't working, so they took care of that. I've had all the lightbulbs in my apartment replaced. So it's more than just checking my cleaning. I feel good when they've finished because I know I'm in good shape!

That is one thing I really don't like about apartment living, you are always subject to somebody's whims. I like living in a house..but one thing about apartments...you always have someone to fix something if it breaks.

There are definite plusses and minuses to each one. I didn't think I'd have any privacy in an apartment, but I really do have a lot of privacy here. The inspections are a good thing for everyone so that the building is always in good repair and clean. It can be a nuisance if I'm just not feeling up to cleaning when I know they're coming. But it's a great feeling after they've left and I know I've done a good job for myself and the other tenants.

I guess it is good that they give you any notice at all, but still Monday is cutting it a little close!

They seem to like surprising us as soon as they can. I'm sure there are some people here who aren't as clean as they could be. This is why I prefer doing a little cleaning every day!

@CRK109 I hate cleaning. I'd need some warning

I'm surprised they aren't required to give you more notice.

quite frankly, I'm surprised they don't just surprise us with a knock on the door whenever they feel like it! For anyone who cleans at all on a regular basis, even two days' notice is okay. For the tenants who don't clean much at all....well, I'm just not sure how they handle it.

I responded to another post about inspection. They should only restrict to maintenance but they even look how your bed is made (lol)

They just want to keep everyone safe and healthy. If a tenant doesn't clean, it could allow bugs to come and that would be horrible! So I read their notices and I clean the best I can!

I do! I remember my last inspection when they could barely move around my bedroom because of all the boxes. Now the boxes are gone, things are organized we're squeaky clean! I'm ready for tomorrow!

@CRK109 I am sure they do not even need to worry if you are a tenant.

No one has to take time off work. As long as they give us notice, they can come into our apartments to inspect even if we're not here. I was not home the first time they inspected, but I've managed to be here for all the others. It's pretty quick.

Could it be two types of inspections? Otherwise the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.
