Just recently President Donald Trump made a remark in his speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to that effect that reporters should not be allowed to use anonymous sources and that he is going to do something about it. Do you believe that reporters should not be allowed to use anonymous sources? Picture credit: http://www.patspapers.com/story_stack/item/the_odd_rise_of_anonymous_sources/

i guess each direction has bad and good effect, lets say reportors dont have the choice to hide the source for their info, do you think that these people who provide the vital and important info will keep on doing it, i guess they will not, of course they will be scared to do so, so the truth will be gone.

That is a difficult situation because some with information will need protection if identified.

there are sources of news that the authors remain in anonymity. i think this is to protect their identities and safety of their lives and families

I think reports should be able to use anonymous sources. Unless there is a court or civil case, then the sources needed to be handed over. Otherwise, no.

For the same of security of some sources, it's not advisable always to divulge the identity of the source.

Anonymity shields the giver of information Reporters verify the facts and then publish. Keeping the source anonous is nothing bad.

I think this would mean some people would be in danger, if the reporter stated where the information came from now. People wouldn't step forward to help.

I want to see what he plans to do about it. Just as long as facts can be verified, anonymous sources should be allowed.

Because there are more instances that the source could be in danger if they are revealed.

many people would be afraid to share info if they thought others would know they were the source.
