Old McDonald Made Some Pies, E-I-E-I-O!

Today I made two pies, forsooth, two pies I made today One was of lamb, the other beef, what more is there to say? "Oh dear!" I mutter to myself, as potato mash I slather, "They both look quite identical, how shall'us tell one from t'other?" I then recalled McDonald (not the one of burger fame!), And how he knew his stock by sound (if not, indeed, by name). The pies, behold, declare their stuff with simple words and true, "BAA" says the Shepherd's Pie and, lo! The other answers "MOO"! (Incidentally, you saw it here first. If you happen to have seen it on Facebook, that is because you may happen to know someone who knows someone who knows a daughter of mine!)

I wouldn't really know if people had a strong preference for shepherd's pie over cottage pie.

I don't know whether people have preferences but I do like them to know what they are eating, at least.

@owlwings Sometimes it might be better if they don't know what they're eating.

@JudyEv I sometimes don't reveal ALL the ingredients to faddy people who don't like mushrooms or parsnips, for example. If they find them, they can always pick them out but sometimes they just eat and enjoy!

"Old McDonald had a farm"... very well done, now you can recognize the pies.

Baa and moo were what fitted (it's quite difficult to do small lettering in mashed potato). I might have had a little trouble with one made with pork or chicken.

That's very clever - and much easier than trying to draw a cow or sheep in mashed potato.

I did consider that (what would I put for a rabbit pie or a spinach and ricotta lasagne, for example?). I might try a mashed potato bas relief sometime!

@JudyEv Love that! I don't think I'll be making bunny pie any time soon but I do want to do a spinach and ricotta lasagne sometime. I shall have to perfect the art of mashed potato modelling!

@owlwings You could have rabbit's ears and a big, bulgy bicep suggesting Popeye for the spinach! But we'll need photos! :)

One cannot plagiarise pies. If you can add your recipe/images in wikimedia commons then I suppose we are safe.

Yeah cause that guy had a farm! Lol. Your creation is awesome, we don't make pies with meat over here that often and I would say very rare, I really would like to have a taste of your wonderful creation.

Clever! When I make my 2 aliquots of lasagne tomorrow, the Oink and the Moo go into the same pot, therefore sharing the same casserole dish in t'oven together, problem solved. Super rhyme!

Oh no! Too much choice! I'd want a bit of both. I love that you've 'named' them for ease of identity!

I love that idea. Especially if you have to make numerous pies for a group of people.
