My kids may get an extended spring break

The lock out is very likely. The school board and teachers union have been without a contract for well over a year. The teachers have been on work to rule since September( meaning they only do what was spelled out in the last contract). As of midnight, the board will lock out the teachers if they can't come to an agreement today. They say the schools will be open, but have told parents that it is up to them if they send their kids to school. Many who stay at home or can make other arrangements won't. I was looking forward to getting back into a routine, but that is unlikely.

I'd try to keep the kids to certain routines. Reading in the morning. Setting some kind od schedule.

@Morethanamom that means you get to read aloud to the two youngsters. You will find this a rewarding exercise.

We will likely go to the early years center every morning like I usually take my toddler. The girls enjoy it too. Reading time in the afternoon sounds like a great plan.

Me too! I need to get back into a routine and the girls need school. I could send them, but I don't think they will actually be taught, not to mention we have not been informed as to who is going to be watching the kids.

@Morethanamom hopefully it will not last long. I probably wouldn't send them in that situation either.

Let's hope that the teachers and school board can get to some kind of arrangement and things will get back to normal tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
