Kitten Update - Milo's scratch-post training

The breeder from whom we're getting our new kittens is a woman of very high standards. Her kittens will not go to their new homes until they've had their first two sets of inoculations, beem microchipped, and learned to use a litter box and a scratch post. She's also now calling them by their names so that they'll be used to them when they arrive.
A few days ago I happened to mention on facebook (we're friends on there) that my boy cat Bagheera had walked across the room, up to his scratch post, and then given his claws a work out on the carpet IN FRONT of the post. I mentioned that I hoped little Milo would be able to give his uncle some lessons in scratch post etiquette.
Yesterday the breeder's daughter updated us with a video of all four kittens playing (Milo was getting beaten up by a girl kitten!) and a photo of him and his sister at the scratch post. I'm impressed. He's only 5 weeks old and he's getting the hang of it.
In the photo you see Milo telling the post that he's the post, whilst sister Daisy sits in front, ignoring him.
With the kittens so far away, it's lovely to get regular updates on how they are doing.

I would be surprised if a cat only ever used his scratch post - there is too much temptation in the home even for a well trained kitten. Curiosity cannot be trained out of a cat. The best you could hope for is that he will prefer the post to the furniture. But good luck with him.

@boiboing Two of mine like the Lazy Boy recliners, which were rather expensive and are showing signs of cat attack.

So cute, my cat is Milo He never uses a scratching post, sadly..but he doesn't claw as much as some cats do Thankfully.
