Good afternoon.although we have plenty of snow. But today is lovely. Bright sun and warm. Being a dad How many face this.Dad why can't I go? I recall my oldest daughter 13 at that time.Wanted to go to a party. she blossom out a fine young teen ager.Of course I wanted to protect her not overly but some.she wanted to to to a party where most of her class mate were going.I said well I would like to meet the parents their.Oh!dad that is so lame Maybe if you want to go.set up so that I can meet them. Okay, she did and I met them. But outside. No invite in the house as I wanted to see how they live. The were very nice .they will be the host there. no alcoholic or any misbehavior. I did like the couple.Did I have doubt.Do we not all. This was Saturday night Fine I let her go and she was so lovely.Had her hair done by her mother. must say that she was pretty sexy.that is one of the reason that I did not like to see her go.But as it turned out.Father did not know best. Lol The party was fine.Dad was not fine. Have you ever been in this kind of predicament Why can't I go? Have a nice day.

We as parents want to protect our children and not see them get into harm's way. It is embedded in our nature to do his. When they want to go to a party you are skeptical about letting them out of your sight. The hardest thing we do is to let go and let them spread their wings. We must trust that they will be okay and make wise choices. But, when we do let them spread those wings, we sit home and worry. When they come home smiling and tell us thank you for letting them go, we know that we made the right choice to let them have fun.

When my kids went on their first dates I imagined all kinds of things. I always told them to call if something went wrong and no matter what time we would pick them up.

I think all parents like to keep a close watch on their children especially as teens when they are testing the waters. I still worry about my kids.

I had no kids, but I know that my father was sick every time I asked him to go to a party.

OH boy yes I have been there with my daughter. She came down to say good bye as she was going to a party. I told her to go straight back to her room and put some clothes on! Good grief! Her skirt was practically up to her belly button, OK an over exaggeration but I told her she had to change! NO change No party! Simple!

It is really hard to let go of our children - particularly young girls I think.
