Scariest Horror movie

What's the scariest movie you've ever seen? For me it's still the exorcist. I can never watch it again even now that I'm a grown up. It's disturbing and although the effects are so obvious I still find it really scary. I used to have nightmares about it when I was a little girl. Just picturing the face of that girl in my mind send shivers fown my spine. The next one is not really a horror movie but a thriller, the last house on the left. That movie left me feeling weak.

That's fine too. Comedies are great stress relievers.

Maybe because of your exposure to horror stories you don't get scared easily.

@hillhjill I experienced the same thing before back when I was in High School. I've been watching a lot of horror films that I got so used to it. I think it's pretty normal. Or maybe you just haven't found one that will really scare you.

"The exorcist" was scary but I saw it when I was already a teen so the effect was less than if you watched it as a child. As a child, I was really bothered by " Dracula" based on Bram Stoker's novel starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, the one with Aunt Lucy turning to a Vampire, was so scared I could not even go to the rest room alone , my youngest aunt had nightmares and could not sleep for several nights

I haven't seen that movie. Maybe it's worth the watch. I'll have to see for myself.

@slayer08 it was made in the late 50's or 60's and shown here around 3 or 4 years later, still black and white but I think they now have an enhanced colored version, looks corny now but remember radio, T.V. and movie was the only form of hi tech entertainment that time

@louievill oh I see. I have seen an old vampire story, nesferatu. I was a bit corny as well and was popular in the 30's. But I watched it nonetheless becuase it was the correct adaptation of Dracula. It was still good for me.

A film called the Others was quite spooky for me - it leaves its horrors to the imagination

Is that the film where Nicole Kidman starred? Where she and her children thought that they're the ones being haunted? Yeah, I remember that movie. I freaked out on the part where her kid was playing and all of a sudden her face changed into an old lady's face. I like that movie.

For that reason I do not like scary movies.
