Mirror Mirror on the restroom wall...

United States

We all, at one time or another, find ourselves using a public restroom - whether in a restaurant, a gas station or other such public place. When out clothes shopping some of us don't think twice about stripping down in the dressing room. We should be concerned and I'll remind you why. It is common knowledge that some places have two-way mirrors. We see this on TV and we say, I'd never get caught by some unscrupulous person. Just as a reminder for those of you who know this and those of you who don't....you can tell if the mirrors in those places are two-way or not. It is a very simple test - this is what you need to do: * Point your finger and hold it up to the mirror the way the frog in the photo is doing. * If the reflection you see has a gap (space) between your actual finger and the reflection of your finger - then all is well it is not a two-way mirror. However: * If you put your finger on the mirror and there is no gap between your actual finger and the reflection (if the two 'fingers' are touching) - then that is a two-way mirror. You don't know who is watching you - so get out and stay safe. We have to be responsible for our own safety and this is just one small step by which we can do that. Photo from Pixabay

I can't imagine why people would want to spy on others like this but I guess there are plenty of weirdos out there.

I can remember the two way mirrors being brought to my attention decades ago. I always go in the dressing rooms knowing someone could be watching.

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind. Do you have an explanation why the gap/no gap helps to find out what kind of mirror it is?

I found this a long time ago in an article and it just popped into my head earlier...I can't remember the details. The important part is being able to tell the difference between the two.

Thank you for sharing that. I never thought of that. That means when I am trying something on a pervert could be watching and enjoying the show.
