Sorry if I hurt people.

Yesterday I posted a discussion on which I mentioned that I have reported few of the comments of few users here. I reported them because I felt those were not relevant and against guidelines. But I was wrong as those were relevant as were not deleted by admin till yesterday night. May be I need to read guidelines more thoroughly to understand it better. Hope people forgive and forget it . Image of PM received from admin.

You can't really hurt people as such as just reporting something doesn't mean it gets removed. Admin looks at reports and if what is reported breaks the rules it goes...if it doesn't it stays. Going off topic happens all the time here just like in a normal offline discussion. I don't mind at all and if you're here for earnings don't forget you'll earn from everyone who posts in your discussion

I won't mind if those were on my discussion but we're on other's discussion. I have noticed few people just write same comments on almost all the responses which is irritating. Just writing " how are you? How was the day?" I don't think is good to write everywhere.

@sjvg1976 I'd probably leave those alone I mainly report spammers and cheaters.

This is why it is good that admin looks at things that are reported. It does not automatically remove a post to report it.

That's right that's the benefit of having an admin here. I know I should not stop reporting comments by having such an experience. What do you say?

"but if it is blatant spam, or simply 'hello', or 'thank you' or 'i don't know,' etc then i would most likely remove the comment" - will we see less of those then?

He she is clever and knows that simply writing hello, thank you may lead to deletion of his/her posts so he adds up one more sentence like "how are you, how was you day?

Some people probably report by mistake and don't even realize, no worries. So I went to read the discussion. And that's true, the guidelines don't mention it's a violation to start a conversation between two people in the comments. It is, if it started as a discussion. Like I start one tagging you and asking how you are doing. I sometimes find that to be annoying, unfortunately not all the things we find annoying break the rules! Like not having a bath or shower in summer, wish we could report those biohazards on the bus.

Yes that's what I did and left to the admin if he finds it a violation he may delete it.

Some people like to thank you for writing a good discussion. Thank you means they at least read what you wrote.

I sometimes write just 'thank you' but it's usually the second or third comment in a stream.

If you want to report do it at your own risk as many a time what you think is a violation however clear it may look to you Admin may not think so

Don't ask for apology, you just have to do what you think is right by reporting it. Now that it was answered , then that's okay, because at least it was cleared .

I am glad to see that I am perfectly in line with what Alex judge "spam". I hate when people do this commenting under my comments. How are you? How is your day?... even left under under comments, I know that this is SPAM!

When I reported the comments and responses of that user and openly said that I have reported that fellow understood and didn't respond on my discussions for few days.
