Have your ever thought? Origin behind the word Malaria

The word Malaria is evolved during the medival Italian time Mal- bad; aria- air. At that time the people living around the swamps in Rome were affected by fever which they believed to be caused due the bad air around the area. I was reading a news about Malaria and so thought of looking behind the origin of the name. :)

Actually I never thought of the origin of the word. Probably because I was too busy being scared of the disease.

@Hari101 - Yes. Some people are still afflicted by these diseases. But not nearly as many are dying they used to years ago. People who have the knowledge and ability to heal have received a special gift from God and through it they bless the whole world.

I didn't really pay attention to the word Malaria. Yes, the etymology makes sense. I'm Italian but never noticed. Good to know.
