Pushing for Success

Well, I overslept today. The alarm went off and I slept right through it. I might have slept most of the day, but a delivery guy was banging on my door. Not the best way to wake up, but it got me out of bed! That was at 1pm. I'd made a list of phone calls to make, so I made my coffee and sat at my table with my list and the phone and got to work. I made my ride arrangements to go to the DMV to have the address amended on my ID card. I can't oversleep tomorrow! Then I called Medicare about joining the YMCA. I really want to use the pool for walking and exercise. They told me that I'll be able to join for $10/month so I left a message at the YMCA for someone to call me back about joining. Once I get that taken care of, I'll have to see about transportation back and forth. The Y is only right down the street from me (it's a block away from my old house, actually). So even if I can only get there once a week for some walking in the pool or some water aerobics, it should do my legs and knees a world of good. Here's hoping. I spoke with my librarian today. She told me that her mother is having the exact same sleep problems that I am. Melatonin has not been working for her. She's also been trying to regulate her sleep patterns but she wakes up every night around 2:30am and can't get back to sleep. What she's been doing is putting on an audio book and she lays in bed and either just listens to the story or she falls asleep. That's something I hadn't thought about so I'm going to give it a try. Can't hurt. But the librarian told me that going to the Y just might be the answer, too. Starting to get some good exercise just might bring the sleep on. I can only hope! Hope you're all doing well! Claudia

Oh well you needed the rest Claudia. Medicare will help you with joining the Y? There is a pool over across the way from me here indoors. I would like to go there but you have to be 62 or over to get the discount so I cant right now..another year. I would love to also stretch and help my joints in the least painful way...the water.

I used to go to the YMCA for physical therapy in the pool and it was wonderful. So I'm excited to be able to get back!

It sounds like you can really benefit from the exercise, and I hope it will lead to some better rest for you.

Sounds like a great deal for the Y @CK109 It is nice to get some extra sleep when you have difficulties on a regular basis. Melatonin is used by someone we know w/success. Hope it works for you.

For now, I'm trying to keep as busy as I can while I'm awake to burn off my energy so I'll sleep better. I'm seeing my doctor again soon, so I'm hoping he'll have something new to say about all of this.

Certainly a bit more exercise might help with your sleeping problems. I hope so for your sake.
