Finally getting somewhere with finding my son the care he needs

Today is the 6th anniversary of my husbands death so I've been in a pretty big fog today so hopefully this post can be written well enough for you to be able to make sense of.
I took my son to his appointment at the new office I chose. It is specifically for children with behavioral and mental health issues.
The woman who did the intake was so nice and understanding. My son and I both really liked her.
Next time he goes back will be April 7 and he will see a psychiatrist to do an evaluation on him to see if he needs services there for therapy etc.
It was an hour drive one way but feeling like we are finally getting somewhere makes the drive well worth it.
I have not been to this town since I was a teenager and went with my parents a few times.
We saw a gorgeous waterfall, murals on buildings and a bunch of very old miniscule cemeteries as we drove. I look forward to making the drive again in summer when we can stop and take pictures and look for geocaches.
The photo I added is cute perler bead designs my kids did. My son did his own to look like minecraft. My daughter looked online to make her cat from someone else's pattern.

I am glad that this is feeling like a hopeful choice. I will be interested to read more about what happens with this evaluation.

I am almost worried they will say he does not have anything wrong. It is so obvious to me that he does but in the office he seems good calm and smiles. So different then at home where there are triggers like having to do school work etc.

The right care will make all the difference in the world. They both did a great job at their designs.

My daughter made another really neat design today. It was one she found the pattern online for though. A unicorn. Today I take my son back to the psychologist for an evaluation. It is Monday and the return to cyber school after Spring break so he is miserable.

@shaggin I know he will be so glad when summer break gets here.
I loved unicorns when I was younger. I collected anything with them on it.

It seems that finally someone is going to help your son as he should. I´m so glad! Even you will help him as I can see by your words that you are so optimist.

Yes I am very hopeful the guy he sees will be just as good. They said he will only see him once to do the evaluation for services so then he will see someone else after that I guess. So far so good this makes me feel hopeful we found a great place with how kind everyone was that we met. Seeing that this is specifically a place for kids and they deal with issues like my son's all the time I think they will be more understanding.

@shaggin Right especially since they handle this kind of stuff. Hopefully once he goes and is evaluated you will no more by easter and he gets approved for more services. Hopefully he will become a happy little man again very soon.

@DianneN A relative started a group in town where people paint the rocks and hide them around town for others to find. It is spreading all over the surrounding counties and was on the news last night. There is over 1000 people who joined the local Facebook group this past month.

They did :-) They insisted they needed more colors especially black so we went to armoire and bought a bag of black perler beads. My daughter started working on another design when we got home but then she quit soon after. They don't stick with one thing very long but that's okay they will use them again eventually.

It is hard when my kids go to bed at 8 to do this driving an hour one way on school nights. At least once my son does asynchronous at cyber school we can schedule appointments a little earlier.

How lovely to see what your kids made. I am so glad that you may be finding the help your son needs. It is not easy when mental health issues are involved. It sounds like you have had things difficult for a long time and coping without your husnand cannot be easy.

Well that will be great if you're able to move ahead with his care especially in these difficult years. Does your son enjoy looking for geocaches with you too? That's not something I've ever done before, nor am I necessarily looking forward to doing it one day. But, I have no problem with others getting involved with it either.

I love geocaching. My kids did for about a month then got sick of it. They hate the outdoors so they never want to go geocaching with me anymore. Since my son is home doing cyber school all the time I do not have the time to myself to do it but that's okay.
