What makes you stay in a group?

Each one of us here for sure belongs to different groups. Since I started blogging, I have been a member of blogging communities. There are groups where I have been staying for many months already and there are groups I left because of bad experiences. Aside from Mylot, what are other group organizations or communities are you a member of? What makes you stay or leave in a group?
