Can't catch a fish or even buy one!

Since it was so nice yesterday and the pond looks so good after the weed whacking, I tried fishing. The worm wasn't very happy, he kept saying his head hurt from hitting the cold water so many times. Needless to say fishing was a disaster.
Several things could explain why:
* The fish were out to lunch
* The fish packed their bags and left town
* The fish could not see the worm since the pond is the color of chocolate milk
My husband called the 'fish farm' where we bought fish a few years back. They have some for 50 cent each, they are only 3 inches long and I can't remember what kind that is...or catfish for .40 cents each. So we took the cooler and hit the highway to the 'fish farm' - where we discovered a sign on the locked gate reading: Fish Sale Saturday 9 am to 2 pm
So we can't home fish-less which is the same way we leave our pond LOL!
Some days the worm wins!

He got tossed in the pond - he had a hole or two but otherwise he was still kicking as he flew thru the air

@AbbyGreenhill Oh so now you are drowning poor defenceless worms. What a cruel girl.

There are fish in the pond, but we wanted to get more. Either way we got none!

Hope to get them tomorrow as it will be months before they are big enough to catch.

I have heard of worms which bare their teeth when a fish comes near which tends to scare them off. Mind you, if the pond is masquerading as chocolate milk, the fish are probably in a fully satisfied chocoholic haze and want nothing to do with any kind of meat.

I'd love some cat fish. Haven't had any in a long time. Did you get some fish?

@celticeagle We don't eat fish we catch in our pond...catch and release only. You can get catfish in any and every store/restaurant around here so I'd rather do it that way

@AbbyGreenhill May be the catfishes are small. They have killed almost all the local fishes in our lakes.

@LadyDuck We bought the cats. The cats are now up to two feet long and weigh over 3 pounds. They stay in the deep water in the middle and the little fish seem to stay closer to shore.

You can't dig in our soil - it's red clay - you need dynamite. We buy worms at the gas station.

I would love a pond! But some days the fish have already ate by the time we get out to feed them something with a hook inside.
