The Urge to Purge

Even though spring hasn't officially arrived weatherwise I have this overwhelming desire to purge.
I don't know why I feel this way. I just want to get rid of everything. Even though I don't have clutter around the house I do have too much stuff stored in the garage and my closet has now become a haven for anything that doesn't have a place.
I have a walk-in closet that is getting to the point of not being walk-in. It's more like stand sideways and shuffle in. I'm way past wearing half the clothes that are taking up room (like all the outfits I used to wear to work) and shoes with heels. Retirement has changed my daily uniform to pants, shirts and 99% of the time bare feet (or slippers).
I've been wanting to rearrange my kitchen cabinets for quite awhile now but it's just something I keep putting off.
Let's not even get into talking about window washing, changing curtains, moving furniture and getting into all the nooks and crannies. (all in good time as it's definitely not a one day job)
So, I sit here with all these big plans in mind, enjoying my coffee and chatting with you wonderful folks.
Do you feel like I do...like a bear waking from winters hibernation and ready for spring?

Lol! Not at all. The only thing that will need my attention when I return home is putting sheets on the bed. The cleaning lady will do all the cleaning for me. Otherwise, everything is neat and orderly. My husband threw away or donated over the last several years. We have someone coming from an antique shop to buy my parents' dining room set, which has been hogging up our basement for years.

It is spring here and I got the shorts out - I'm ready - Moving as often as we do keeps my cabinets and closet organized! I don't do windows - that's my husband's job since he doesn't ind doing that. I don't change curtain - I don't really have curtain, just valences. I like life easy and avoid over working!

I don't know that I feel like your last line, but I would like to get busy and get rid of lots of stuff too. For me to do that would take getting one of the green bins that we can use for free here to put on our out lawn and then I could get rid of extra things just collecting dust from the basement.
I should get rid of extra clothes in my closet too, but since I may not have a lot of money as I get older I may just wait to make sure I won't wear more of those once I do retire.WE are hoping to be able to get a new bed this summer and if we can we'll downsize from a king to a queen. If that takes place I'm hoping to go through the extra stuff near my closet and get rid of loads.Maybe I'll even do some of that while I'm off work, but probably not.

Yes I do. I want to hook a giant vacuum cleaner to one end of my house and suck everything out and start all over!

I get this urge every spring but if you try really hard, you can squash it back down lol I can't wait to get home and start to do my own purging.

I got rid of all the junk before we moved. Now this summer I will need to wash down all the cabinets in the kitchen.

yes, i totally get it. and right now, due to recovery from surgery, i can't do anything except sit and rest. i keep walking by messes & i want to clean. get rid of. trash.

I don't think this type of 'urge to purge' hits Australians quite as much as the difference between our seasons isn't so great. I have enjoyed getting rid of quite a bit of stuff lately though.

Good lord yes! I have already started, I moved ALL the houseplants out if this office and I began the cleaning. My walk in closet needs a good clearing too!

I cleaned off my shelf of DVD's and chose a few to get rid of I am meeting two people who have purchased them tomorrow so i will be 50$ richer tomorrow lol
