Yes, many of us love when it's finally Spring, right?
Everything is beginning to sprout or at least it's thinking about it I know there are places that still has to wait for the snow to melt, but under that snow isn't there the buds of the first future flowers?
Yes, all those lovely aromas your senses are looking forward to, right?
Now to take that whole spring thing to another level.
Living in the desert means spring sprung last month , ALL the weeds have already grown to at least mid calf giving me much needed exercise as I attempt to pull them out. Don't even suggest herbicides, I don't use poisons.
Then to give Spring it's other side of the coin, ALL of those damn noseeums have hatched, turns out their mommas laid those eggs in fall.
How did I know about them? Well, as I pull weeds I've become lunch for so many of them.
I cannot use pesticides, I have skin allergies so that is definitely out.
So I fix a potion of vinegar, peppermint oil and water which works for a while but I keep forgetting to reapply every now and then
You know what the worst part is?
Yesterday we got a typical sandstorm and now I have a few new noseeums that found their way indoors, THEY'RE DRIVIN ME NUTS!!!
Ok ok, so I was a bit nuts even before they began chewin me up oh well

Finally found a photo of my namesake, I found her in 1980 and named her Rebel. I won't ever forget her.

I am growing citronella. If you can stand the oils in it, it keeps those nasty critters at bay. I just crush a few leaves, and add some water. Let it soak over nite then put water in a spray bottle. I think it smells good, but they can't stand the stuff.

Yes but I gotta say it's better than respiratory allergies @cindiowens I can't figure out how people live with that.

I suppose some do fly but they also crawl or jump/hop. Those little biting insects seem to love having me for lunch .... ooouuccchhhh .... I have so many insect bites right now but soon they will be gone, some are blown in with the winds but do not survive our dry heat

Love the dog, try some mint mouthwash or mint tea, and spray it all over your body and see if it stops the little buggers..
