Don't Agree? You can block me!

United States

That is exactly what just happened! myLot should have a big disclaimer stating that - not everyone will agree with your discussion and it's completely fine! Once in awhile if someone does not agree with a topic, it is interesting to learn their thoughts, not that I would agree with it at times but it's interesting to know others prospectives. However, of course if "a/the comment" offends you, the blocking feature is available if needed. I am no harm, just stated some facts and my opinion. If I am blocked, so be it! Not my lost!

@Mike197602 That's the mind set! It is the persons lost because they are cutting their interaction cents from me, ha! But do you really get offensive quickly? I don't think so or I haven't pushed your buttons.

@infatuatedbby if someone wants to abuse me in the harshest way that's fine, I ignore it and let them get on with it as it makes me a few cents

Agreed. I don't know why people must make a discussion saying "I just blocked this person." As if they expect everyone to do the same. With that being said, there' s a time to block people and a time to also report them, or atleast report them. I've had to report comments where people have cussed at me, or been outright offensive.

You bring up a great point @ScribbledAdNauseum - The discussions saying they blocked this person and such is usually so we could agree with that individual to make them feel better that they blocked that person. I am not good at explaining but hope you get me. And, just because someone may have blocked a person, doesn't mean the next person will block that same person too. I never blocked a person, I may have reported a couple here and there. I do not think I have been cursed out, but that is wrong to do so. It is the internet, why would someone want to curse well whoever did that to you had nothing better to do behind a screen.

A couple of people made discussions like that about me. One utterly and totally misread a comment I made and the other one was continually giving false information to people. when those discussions happen I always remember there are 2 sides to every story

That's silly to block someone over a disagreement. I have only blocked one person since I have been here and that was because they were saying bad comments to me on any discussion I went on.

That person whoever kept commenting on any discussion bad about you - I would do the same. They had nothing better to do and wanted to pick on you. Yeah, the discussion was silly to block me on. The person was one minded. Claiming a site is a scam because 2 people were not paid. I told them, even though I have not been paid there (Literacy Base), I think you should focus on how many people were paid, than to focus on who weren't paid. There was at least 2 members who said in response they have been paid. But the discussion writer kept focusing on 2 people not being paid. The 2 members who weren't paid had complications to their account.

I don't block people because I don't agree with them. Since this is a discussion forum, all views should be put forth. I will block for harassment or abuse.

I agree completely! Everyone has a right to state their opinion and no everyone's not going to agree with it. So why can't we agree to disagree and move on. Act like adults about it, not children. I guess that makes to much sense though and some would rather sit and argue about it. If I see a discussion I do not agree with and I know if I comment and it may start an argument I just won't comment on it at all. Simple but I guess it's too simple for some. Lol.

Haha you are absolutely corrrect. Some act childish, it's bit hard use your words to type and if you don't agree after both standing opinions then call it a day! Don't take it to the heart Of course it depends on the situation but for the most part I haven't had anything offensive that I can remember since for me myLot is just an online discussion site. Afterwards I have a hard time remembering what I did the other day as is!

Hm. That's really immature isn't it? I know - not on this site, on a different site I had disagreed with someone as polite as is possible, they would delete what I had written, and then they would reply = putting words in my mouth that I never said... oh that's *real* mature... so I just kept replying to her. She eventually got tired of deleting my posts - so she deleted the entire thread.

That's the way to go! I was polite, not like I straight out said 'no - I don't agree', but I think they should look at the bigger situation. There are some immature people and that lady was wrong on her behalf. Basically the post was saying the site wasn't paying 2 people and they are going to stop writing until they pay. My thoughts were , why focus on '2' people not being paid when theres been many who were paid? Including 2 of which responded to their discussion post. The '2' aren't paid had reasons with their account. But I said that's their choice to not continue to use the site or not, not my choice! I am hesitate to continue the site knowing 1 personally of the 2 not being paid but I am sure the site has reasons and will resolve it soon as their account isn't banned or blocked just investigating.

This is a discussion site, and obviously we won't always see eye to eye with each other on every single topic. That is the beauty of the site, to learn and observe from other's points of view. But when negativity or insults arise from these differences, and blocking occurs, so be it. Its a bit closed-minded in some cases, but its life on the site here.
