Be Careful Of What You Say If You're In A Psych Ward

If you're in a mental hospital or psychiatric ward, either as a patient or as someone visiting a friend or a family member, you have to be careful of what you say when other patients can hear you. I've been a patient in psychiatric wards where some of the other patients made inappropriate sexual jokes with each other.  This can be especially inappropriate since some patients in psych wards have been sexually abused. Hence, you have to be aware of this in places like that.  Sexually abused patients have already been through more than enough.  You don't want to make matters even more upsetting for them by saying something you shouldn't say in the first place.

I don't think that outside of psychiatric care is any better. Being mindful of what we say never hurt anyone.

I don't mind green jokes as long as there's an understanding that's it's just for fun. To those who listen without being asked to,it's their problem.
