Yoga Training Starts Soon

This afternoon, my yoga studio is having a meet and greet for the students who will start training next week. I believe there are six of us starting the upcoming classes.
I'm a little nervous. I'll be honest. I've seen the pics of the other yogini. They all look like you expect a yoga teacher to look. Thin. Young.
Then here's me.... 5'2"... I've put on a few of the pounds I've lost. And I'm 47.
I don't want to let it discourage me. but there is this voice in the back of my head, this fear, that gyms won't hire me because I don't LOOK like a yoga instructor.
Anyway, I'm kind of negative this week. Surgery and recovery has been rough. I'm tired. I'm still in pain. I had to call in to NOT work tonight. I was really hoping to work, but I'm not ready yet. So that's some stress on top of it. You know that pesky little thing called MONEY that is needed for those pesky things called BILLS.
Anyway, I hope I leave the meeting today feeling positive and optimistic and excited.

@jillybean1222 Exactly. I wouldn't particularly want a wafer-thin, super-duper person teaching me anything much.

I know a yoga teacher who is not thin at all. I also know a belly dance instructor who is not thin and is over 60. It's all about what you know and that you love to do it and want to share that knowledge with others.

Both your age and your (current) shape could be inspirational for other students in similar circumstances. I would think that the gyms might consider that.

I'm surprised you're starting your training so soon after the surgery..
But I wish you luck! Anyone can be a yoga instructor, you don't have to look the part.

Just saying--a negative attitude delays recovery.
After 3 different surgeries I tried 5 different kinds/classes of yoga and just couldn't get into it.

i know. i need to try to be positive. i've just got so much on my mind. what 5 types of yoga did you try? i know it's not for everyone. and there are so many different styles. and each teacher is different. i like the more fast paced classes.

First drive out your inferiority complex. It actually kills the progress.

I think its to early, did you have that surgery a week ago?!?!?
No bills will get paid if you hurt yourself.
Dont worry about your age, I would rather work with someone older than some kid that thinks she is hot S H I T. With an older instructor I would feel she knows more.
