Derek Carr to the Rescue!

When I was in the hospital, I saw a cool story while watching the news one night, and just read the account on the San Francisco Chronicle website, the SF Gate. A few days ago, Bay area DJ and music producer Ron Reeser had run out of gas, and was starting to make the walk to the nearest gas station, when Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr pulled up and gave Reeser a ride. Oddly, Reeser, a lifelong 49er's fan, had no idea who Carr was until they began talking football. It was the second time this year that Carr saved the day, so to speak. Recently, Carr reTweeted an Amber Alert, after which one of his followers recognized the vehicle in question and called it in. As the Gate article says, Carr certainly doesn't fit the Raiders rogue bad boy image. What a nice guy!
After a local Bay Area DJ/music producer runs out of gas, a good Samaritan pulls over and offers to help. Little does the deejay know that his benefactor is an NFL quarterback.

It's good to hear a 'good news' story occasionally. Some people are very wary about stopping to help people nowadays.

I don't know if he'd have picked him up if the guy were just hitchhiking, but he had a gas can and was just starting to walk, is my understanding.

@teamfreak16 We would pick someone up with a gas can too. And we pick up others but try to suss them out in some way first. We went to a lot of trouble to help a young guy, his partner and their mad young dog one day and ended up piling them all in the car and taking them to their relative's place not too far past our place. It was nearly worth it to hear the young guy repeatedly saying 'You're an f...ing angel, Vince. Just an f...ing angel'. We like to think it was a compliment.

I heard about that Amber alert thing. He could give athletes a good name. How about the Ducks making the final four?

@JamesHxstatic - I knew they haven't been there since 1939, but the nickname is new to me. Go Ducks!

He is a really good guy. Doesn't seem like there are a lot of them in the NFL, but he's one of them.

So all those films I saw are wrong. Picking people up on the highway doesn't mean you're meeting a serial killer or the Devil in disguise!

In this case, he's a devout Christian and wants to be a minister after he retires. Quite the opposite!
