Today I have to go to a funeral for an uncle.
It is very upsetting to me because he is only 3-4 years older than I am. I often wonder what makes a person just give up an not try to carry on with life.
He had some medical issues but most of them probably had started with obesity.
Someone should not give up on themselves so young in life.
I probably shouldn't talk as I am not in the best physical shape myself, but I still try to stay active.
I am dead certain this is why I keep so many pets. they force me to get up, take them out, feed them a million times a day, some need medication.
I think If I didn't have them I would probably fall in to the same boat.
So today I will have to say good bye to my Uncle Mike.
The only good news to come out of this is I get to see all the relatives I never get to see except at funerals. It seem though we are seeing each other a bit too often these days :(

Sad to hear that your uncle who you say was not that old left this world and this thing about meeting relatives at functions that is universal. I do not even want to meet them specially those who never make an attempt to keep in touch

@allknowing I think so. It is sad.. But I wouldn't even know about it if my cousin didn't tell me via Facebook.

Giving up on life is something that depression for a lot of folks will do. That is what it has done to me. So, I guess I can understand it. Sorry for your loss.

@minx267 .....We have three cats. My daughter's but I get some of their attention occasionally too. Nice to have a reason to get up. I have found that animals are much better companionship than most of the people I have met in my life.

@celticeagle I agree completely! They have never let me down, or stood me up for that matter. They are always happy to see me when I get home!

Yes, I guess Depression can ruin a lot of peoples lives. It is a sad thing. I've had my bouts of depression, most were when I was in my teenage years. I guess I mostly pushed thru it and I have always surrounded myself with animals I think they are therapeutic and give me a reason to keep going, to get up in the morning, to get out of bed in the afternoon, to go to work (to make money to feed them). Not every day goes perfectly of course but usually they make me smile and laugh, and I generally prefer their company over many people.

my condolences. was he sick? what illness did he have? maybe his obesity contributed to his sudden demise.

@ridingbet ah, yes. I love having the furry babies though. My cats are all neutered now- so no more babies!

I am so sorry for your loss, as we get older we have to say goodbye to so many of our family and friends. 2017 has already started off bad with my brother in law, friend and my sweet Honey.
