Came home to Stranger's Parked Vehicle on our driveway + our package in hand.

Imagine pulling up to your place and you see an unfamiliar parked vehicle on your garage driveway. What are your thoughts? Not only that but he had a package in his hands! My fiancé and I had several thoughts in our mind, but he rolled down the window and the man asked if we lived at the house? We answered back yes and he handed our package to us stating that the mail person delivered it to the wrong house. As odd as it was, we thanked the man and he drove off. We have never seen this neighbor before either. I quickly went inside and checked. Amazon supposedly delivered the package at 2pm. We were home at 3pm before leaving again, so yes! Looks like whoever Amazon handed the package off to (USPS) delivered our package to a wrong house! So thankful the man was nice and hopefully those were his intentions also. Though, it wasn't a happy mail/package for me but they're a couple of shirts I ordered for my uncle.

I'd be double checking my address on Amazon. I've never had USPS deliver anything to the wrong address before.

The address on the package is correct! The person who delivered it must have gotten mistaken! Once we had the neighbor across the street tell us our packaged landed out at their door instead of ours. I'm just glad it wasn't anything expensive. And it wasn't even for me but I ordered it for my uncle to be delivered here.

@celticeagle I don't know who delivered today but that is unacceptable. I actually drove home today and went a different route and saw the guys car who delivered our package to our home. He lived literally over 20 houses away, different block.

Hmm... well, that's... a bit scary. I guess it would depend on what your driveway looks like but you see... we have a gated driveway here so coming home to a strange vehicle IN our driveway would definitely cause red flags to go up. I would have no problems whatsoever if I find a car parked in front. That can happen for one reason or another.

No gated driveway here. It is not common to have a gated driveway.

@moirai Yes! But at his place no one can park in front it's fire zone.

@infatuatedbby Still, even without a gate, finding someone IN your driveway would still be alarming. Like I said, I'd have no problems finding someone parked IN FRONT. But IN the driveway...?

I don't see anything wrong with what the nice man did. You should be glad he was honest.

Nothing wrong at all. But the thought of driving home to a stranger holding our package, we thought otherwise at that second. Turned out a nice man returning our package! Especially since package thieves are on the rise!

@AbbyGreenhill Yes, but living in California neighbors are literally 5feet away

@infatuatedbby If someone was in our driveway they can't get near the house (gate)

I think I would have complained to the Post Office. And it was very nice of that guy to deliver it to you but if he hadn't then because of the fault of this Postman, your package may have just been stolen. And it would be marked as delivered to you...

@infatuatedbby well they would have to have a talk with the carrier. It's possible this person makes the same mistakes a lot and the only way they are going to know is if people call and tell them.

@minx267 Yeah, I am not happy with it. I need to figure out who is the delivery person and let them know!

Yes, I went home and checked. Package was supposedly delivered to our mailbox at 2pm, but it wasn't. It was hand delivered by the man at 5pm. I don't think the post would do much.

That can be very disconcerting, if I had been the recipient of a package intended for someone else I would have called USPS or UPS and let them redeliver it to the correct address.

I guess it was more of , oh the name is the same nationality so he figured he'd drop by and see who we are and give us our package too. I normally just put wrong address and ask the mail carrier to redeliver.

You know, I don't remember how I found out... but I think I heard somewhere that amazon was considering outsourcing package delivery to individuals? Either way, glad they were nice enough to bring it over. The fact that they drove.. and stayed in the driveway was a bit odd. I would have simply left the package at your doorstep.

I heard Amazon wanted to hire more people as drivers to deliver? It was nice that the person drove it over. They lived on the other side, it would be a little ways to walk but it was strange that they stayed in the driveway until we got home. Not sure how long they waited or if we just happened to come back the perfect time. But he was clueless on what to do. He could have just placed it out in front..... Or maybe because he was the same nationality, he wanted to see what we looked like? I don't know. I never seen the man before either.

Yes, not many would! So it was very nice. He happened to live on the other side quite far but glad he returned it. Our initial thoughts were wrong originally but everyone would expect the worse especially since packages being stolen has been on the rise.

Since I'm almost always in the house, couriers often ask me where this and that person lives for packages or mail that they are to deliver to. It's just irritating sometimes because people living in an adjacent compound also put in their address the name of our village compound when thee're not part of it as their compound is nameless. That's why mailmen and couriers are sometimes confused.

I wouldn't want to be bothered But I think the man was nice and returned promptly because he saw that we were the same nationality, probably curious who we were also.

just thinking of what kid of world is it on when we get afraid a seeing a stranger in our drive way and his car is parked there We immediaely think the worst most often he is there to return a return a package sent to his home by error or deliver a message' othiing bad in that. But we at once assume he is tryiong to steal something.

Sad it did not bring a smile to receive the package which would have been lost for good if it was not returned to you (lol)

I could see getting thrown off a bit. At least he didn't just leave it by the door where someone could steal it.
