Making plans for another road trip

My husband and I are planning on making another surprise road trip up to the northeast to visit the kids and grandsons. We did this for Christmas and they were all so surprised. We flew up there and rented a car at the airport. This time I want to go by car as I want to bring some plants back with me that I cannot get down here in Florida. I was told the plants would not live here but I want to prove to them that the plants could live if given the proper care. It is about a 20 hour ride but we break it up into two days as my husband likes to drive the whole way so we stop over night after 10 hours.

It is great to see the kids but the grandkids are so amazing as every time we see them they get taller and taller. Next visit I will need a ladder to give them a kiss.

Have a fun trip in May. I have managed to get some plants to survive in this warm climate and they were growing in a colder climate before this year. Good luck withe the plants.

When we drove back and forth to NJ to TN we took two days. 6-7 hoursin a car one day is enough for me. We would stop a little more than half way so that the second day seemed shorter. It was13 hours one way.

I enjoy the car ride as long as the car is comfortable and I have lots of reading material and drinking water and snacks. It is funny that the lady that lives next door to me is from New Jersey too. She is 89 or 90 and is always on the go. She lives alone.

We have done it a few times already and we both enjoy the ride. The only problem area is when we get in Washington D.C. where there is lots of traffic.

Given the right treatment your plants will surely survive. Curious to know what they would be.

it's wonderful to surprise them that way. your plan to drive during the day and rest during the night is good. when we were growing up, our bus trips to my parent's hometown was always at night, so by the time we get there, i want to sleep properly in a bed even if it was 8 in the morning. i hope you succeed with the plants. just read up if they prefer shade or sunshine, little or more water, etc.

Most of the plants I want to get I was successful growing when I lived in New Jersey. Now that I know how bad the soil is down here in Florida I have ideas to keep them growing healthy. I won't know if they will survive unless I try.

Thanks @chrissbergstrom. I always enjoy my kids and the grandchildren. We laugh almost the whole time we are there but stop to eat. The boys eat more than I ever did in a month. I know, they are growing boys.
