Have You Ever Received An Award?

United States

Think back over your school days and any job you might have had in the past. Consider any sports award you might have earned, or perhaps the award was for perfect attendance, or winning a race, or a contest of some sort. And if you can’t think of any award that you HAVE earned, think of something that you have done, for which you SHOULD HAVE received an award. Perhaps it was a good deed for a neighbor, or a contribution to a charity, or raising your children, or losing weight or being kind to another person or an animal, or anything else that you did well, that deserved an award, even if others didn’t know about it. Basically, something that for which you are proud, that you were able to accomplish. Something for which you, at least, deserve a pat on the back. I, for one, want to hear your BEST story and what you should do, is post your story on myLot for all to read. In other words, BRAG about something and be sure to tag me when you do, so I won’t miss it. So, you can make this a challenge. Let’s see who can test their writing skills and tell us a GREAT story.

I havr won many awards over the years. I won many poster contests in elementary school for safety mostly. Through junior high, high school and college I won many public speaking awards for various speeches. I always did well even though I do not like speaking in front to of people. I would always get extremely nervous but I guess it didn't show.

@Happy2BeMe Safety is important, especially for young persons in school. Just this week, two young children, who were trying to board their school bus, were killed when they were hit by a tractor trailer. So sad.

Excellent! Public speaking is difficult for many people. I was a sales training manager for years and spoke in front of large audiences. Knowing my subject well was an advantage and I never used notes. You must be an artist also, with your posters. How interesting! What did the posters say?

@IreneVincent I can't remember now but I know they would have to do with preventing accidents and safety and I also won one that I did for Remembrance Day about the war but that was so long ago.

@jstory, that is great. I got a 250 game but that was the highest. I bowled all through high school and then for many years after.

When I was 18, I came second in a kayak slalom contest and when I was in my early twenties, I came second in a rowing contest.

@IreneVincent Your admiration will deflate if I tell you that I had one competitor in the kayak race and two in the rowing race.

@MALUSE nevertheless you have something to brag about, just knowing how to DO either one of those things. I don't know how to do either one and I'm sure there a lot of others who don't how to either

I won a lot of singing contests when I was growing up. I still love to sing and you can hear me sing one song on youtube, if you would like. It's not perfect. I had it recorded a couple years ago at a karaoke establishment. My son put it on you tube. It's not a video, just me singing. Here's the link: Please check it out. I'm trying to get more views and leave a comment, Please.

@abhinalstrikr That's good. Young people should strive to live the kind of life that would make their parents proud and make themselves proud of their own achievements.

Yes, you sound like me. I do enjoy seeing my grandchildren and great grandchildren receive awards, mainly at school. One of my grandsons has second degree black belt in karate, but he just recently decided to stop his karate lessons.

@IreneVincent My grandson just decided not to play hockey next year in his 3rd year of college. I do not know why but he said he is going out as a champion. They won the entire division this year. I think it is a money issue and he won't tell me. Sooner or later I will find out why.
