Another budding fruit in our backyard squash come out. Hope it get big soon. I just love the beauty of the budding fruit of squash where the yellow flower stop is in full bloom and the small fruit is light green and then the green leaves are surrounding them. Our squash have three big fruits now and we have harvested and cooked two fruits already. Sometimes we gather flowers for our dish. I see a beauty in the budding flower and it makes me thankful for this wonder of the world.

I am sure my mom would be delighted to harvest the flowers. I don't eat the blooms but my mom loves it.

Squash blossoms have some good recipes now except the famous dinengdeng and ginataan dish. You can change the wrapper of siomai and longanisa with squash flowers.

indeed, when a squash fruit has the beginning fruit below the sepal, a fruit vegetable is coming soon. do you wrap the flower/fruit until it grows big, so the flies won't bore holes in the fruit?

Not actually like that, you need to pollinate that flower with make flower so it grow. No need for wrapping the fruit.

@ilocosboy but the wasps and bees might bore holes in the fruit.
