Michelle Tries New Food Featuring: Fresh Green Mussels

United States
April 3, 2017 2:28am CST
I'm not a fan of seafood whatsoever, but I went for it and tried fresh green mussels for the first time! These mussels were ooked with vegetable oil, garlic, ginger, hoisin sauce, lemon juice, dash of salt/pepper and green onions. My thoughts? It wasn't too bad, slimely with a weird texture but I'm not a fan of it either. Have you tried any new foods lately? Do you like mussels?

I never really tried clams either, I think I have once but don't remember. Have you tried clams? I like some fish, crab occasionally, shrimp too. Sometimes lobster but I'm not a huge fan on seafood.

They look delicious from the looks of it. Unfortunately, I can't eat this anymore because of uric acid problem. Enjoy the meal!

How unfortunate, your place is famous for " tahong" or green mussels, you have one of the best that is near metro Manila.

@teamfreak16 I never ordered mussels for my meal anywhere. My fiancé has. I'd prefer a steak or if its seafood, fried shrimp!

I love mussels and sea foods. It might be slimy or chewy sometimes but I still eat them. Maybe I'm a fish person in my other life.

@infatuatedbby I usually sauteed it with garlic and onion, then let it boiled to get it cook but I also put some chili leaves, pepper and salt before serving it. My Aunt has a way of baking it but I'm not sure how she does it. I just like to eat it with the shrimp and egg.

I prefer the regular black mussels to the green mussels, of course not the black mussels are the same, the small ones coming from France are the best.

@infatuatedbby The green mussels only come from New Zealand, they are bigger, the flavor is not very different, but I still prefer the small black ones. The Bouzigues mussels, coming from the Mediterranean are still my favorite.

Yes, I like mussels. I buy sometimes from market. I clean them add spices, salt and mix nicely, and keep it aside for sometime. Then i deep fry,and keep aside. In a pan I saute onion, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and add spices, when the gravy is cooked well I add these mussels in it and add coriander leaves before serving.
