Best Antivirus for my Laptop

What could be the best Anti-Virus for my Laptop? I was using Avast for the past few years, but now I feel to change. Presently I see many a times my browser getting redirected to some shopping sites, and many other issues I face on my Laptop. So I was thinking to change. But which one would be the best?

Avast.. Would you suggest the paid version.. Or the free version is also good. And do you know id Avira is good?
I have been using Avast for quite sometime, and now I want a change as I see some issues creepying into my system.

@subhajitsil6 I find the free version adequate. Avira is very similar to Avast, although I have not used it.
The browser redirect is most likely malware, so Malwarebytes would be good for that.

you try avg it is a free antivirus program and is very good and has been tested with some of the top antivirus programs like norton and McAfee. If you want to try it here us a link to a page where you can download both 32bit and 64bit and just so you know the program is rather large about 275mb
