Stripper at the party

Well, Vince's 70th birthday party is over and the house is just about back to normal. Eight of our stay-over guests left this morning and one friend will leave in the morning. We all had an enjoyable time. Vince's five living siblings were all in attendance and we took the opportunity to have photos taken of the family group.
I also played a bit of a trick on Vince by leading him and the guests into believing I'd hired a stripper for the party. Well before anyone had time to get upset at the thought but after he cut the cake and we sang happy birthday, I sat him on a chair with the others gathered round.
Then I went to the front door, said a few appropriate things and came back in – with a tin of paint stripper. It's not a very good photo that one of the guests took but it does show people's expressions.
Now I'm off to read what you've all been up to.

I love your photo Judy, a very happy family. That was a great prank and you reminded me a prank that my husband did to one of our friends. We lived in Monte-Carlo, he invited a friend because it was his birthday and on the invitation he mentioned a "surprise strip". For an unknown reason, our friend expected that I did the strip, while the surprise strip was in the sense that HE was the stripper. He declined.

What a brilliant idea! Happy Birthday to Vince! I think I'll tell my daughter about this - she's always up for a joke - so that she can hire herself out as a 'stripper-gram'. We shall, of course, have a board painted with an appropriate message and then overpainted with another kind of paint which can be stripped!
I like 'stay-ever' guests (though I know that's not what you meant). My parents had one of those once. He was invited to stay the night and ended up staying a month and showed no signs of going until, one day, my mother put a plate on the floor for the dog to lick and then calmly put it back on the dresser when he had cleaned it. He left that afternoon!

Glad you liked the joke. Thanks for the birthday wishes too and thanks for picking up on the 'stay-ever'. I've edited it now. We had a friend who would invite himself on the first day of every school holiday (he was a teacher) and leave on the day before school started again. I found it very stressful with two young children. Vince was at work all day. We managed to lose touch when we changed addresses. Probably not a nice thing to do but what else can you do?

@JudyEv really?
I thought he was embarrassed that all he got was paint stripper instead of the real thing.

@allen0187 Who knows what his real thoughts were? Maybe he was bitterly disappointed.

Thanks for the good wishes. At my 70th different ones recited a couple of poems and I just thought it would be nice to have some 'entertainment' of some sort.

Definitely better for his heart. A stripper wouldn't have been a good idea at all as a couple of the guests, although lovely people, wouldn't have been a bit amused.

It seems that you all have a great time without a real stripper. I think your trick worked to make the event more exciting.
The picture speaks a lot about the celebrations.

Vince must have felt bad after seeing what you actually meant by stripper. The photo is good everyone enjoying the party. A happy family.
