Day 217 Proverbs 20:24 Proverbs 20:24 Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way? 25 It is a snare to the man who devours that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry. A common question is: What is the meaning of life? We wonder what our purpose is, looking for it in different career opportunities, going after the degree that will give us the most satisfaction, only to find we have no real interest in the career, so we change careers always looking and hopefully finding what really grabs us passionately. Solomon showed that man’s purpose is wrapped up in God’s purpose for our lives. Without knowing what God wants for us, we will always be seeking and seldom finding. When that happens, man does things that infringe on what belongs solely to God, and then wonder if it was okay to do what we did and start asking God if it was okay for us to do such and such. Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholds him with his hand. Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? (KJV) Our purpose is to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly before God. When we do, we will not wonder what our purpose is, we will know it. God will show us the path we need to walk down in everything we do, whether it is our career, the person we are to marry, taking care of our family, showing us where we are to live. Everything we do is ordered by God. He directs our steps, and when we follow, we will not need to worry about putting a step wrong and then asking God if it was okay to do what we did. When you put your life in God’s hands, he will always lead you and take care of you. Let’s pray: Father, help me follow you and not go ahead of you for the plans of my life. Show me what you want me to do and help me walk humbly before you. Thank you that you have ordered my steps. Help me walk in them. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Gd is never going to lead us down the wrong path, therefore we should seek his guidance in everything we do.
