Birthday Party!

Yesterday marked my birth 63 years ago. What made it really nice was seeing how many great people I have in my life. My DIL helped my 3 year old granddaughter make me a lovely card. We all had dinner at my ex's and his wife's house, pizza with cake and ice cream and lots of talk and laughter. One of my sons and his wife was there and they brought me fresh flowers which I love having in the house.
Today a friend took me to lunch and when I came home my DIL had done a chore I absolutely hate--cleaning the stove and microwave which now both look brand new! My granddaughter "helped" her which I think means it took longer than normal! 
Nobody actually gave me anything that came from a store or was worth a lot of money but I feel very wealthy right now because I have a lot of love in my life.

yes help and love is the best presents they can give us when we are older. really glad you enjoyed your 2 days.

When my mom told me she wanted things like this for her birthday or a holiday--chores or just a lunch with me--I, being young a foolish, could not understand why so I just made or bought her something. Wish I would have understood it but I couldn't possibly until I got older. I'm glad my DIL has no money to spare and chose to do something for me!

@dragon54u i think it has a lot to do with what station in life you are. i appreciate more these days people doing things for me but i am unable to do more then buy or give money these days and my oldest daughter has not figured that out yet.

@dragon54u I agree. I think that someone doing one of my dreaded chores for me would be a wonderful gift of love!

I think birthdays get better as we age because we appreciate more things. Material stuff isn't important anymore. This was the best I've had in years.

Thank you! I am having a piece of leftover pizza for dinner tonight, despite promising myself I would start my diet today. I guess I will postpone it until Monday!

Lol! I don't intend to live that long, that would be horrible. I have had several visions and indications that I will pass when I'm 70 in 7 years and that's just fine with me. I will enjoy my time and if there is more than I think I hope it is as good as it is now.

That is more important. Age does not matter but health certainly matters.

I did. I love having my children, DILs, ex and his wife, and granddaughter all together. It's an unusual family but a precious one to me.
