I have a very bad eye infection

United States
April 14, 2017 8:19pm CST
I went to urgent care, I woke up I couldn't see good out of my eye, they tested my vision it is fine. The lower eye lid is swelled , so bad, I had to fill out so much paperwork, and couldn't really see that great with one eye. Now noticing forms now ask if you are male , female, transgender, other. I could't believe, I had to fill all this stuff all over again.. just to be seen. Was giving a prescription for some bacterial eye cream, went to Walgreen's to fill it and they tell me they don't have this cream. It was on back order for a long time.. So I asked them to fax the doctor to get something else. I can't go home with nothing. As soon as he is about to turn me away, the main pharmacist comes out of the back, to show the cream is in. The worker tried to tell me every Walgreen's had this cream on back order. Well day two and still can't see that great, my eye waters and hurts more than yesterday, how can it be?

@CookieMonster46 Actually, a sty would be easier to treat. Good luck!

Maybe you should seek a second opinion. Find another doctor and have your eye checked. And you need to rest your eyes as well.

What happened was my doctor was booked until next week, so the advice nurse advised me to go to this new urgent care. I was there for about 2.5 hours... waiting for my turn, was seen by a doctor, for less than 30 seconds.. I thought the same thing, I need to see my doctor.. If you every had soap in your eye it feels like a bad sting or burn, that is how my eye feels.. I have been off the computer a lot, since yesterday and just felt like I needed to come on for a bit.

Judging by your photo it looks like a sty, the symptoms are exactly those of a sty, red and swelling, increased tear production. Clean your eyelid with mild soap and water and use a warm compress over your eye for about 5 to 10 minutes, 3 times a day.

Wow, that looks painful! If it's not a stye, it could be a clogged tear duct. With a clean finger, massage the area from the inside corner of the eye towards the nose. Two of my babies had clogged tear ducts when they were born, and this is how I was advised to treat it. The massaging broke up the clog, the inflammation went down after a day, and looked much better.

If it is not better by Wednesday or Thursday go get it looked at again from someone else. Surprised they did not give you an antibiotic or some drops.

I really hope that it is feeling better soon, incompetent help seems to be a universal problem.

today is the last day I am supposed to use the cream for my eye, but going to use it another day. You are right about incompetent help these days.

That's just horrible! do you have that cream now? Im glad the pharmacist came in and showed the cream. You need that eye treatment. Worst thing for a person is to become blind.

I've been having problems with my right eye, it constantly seems to be infected, swollen and watery. I've been to my primary care physician and my eye doctor, and both of them tell me nothing is wrong with my eye, it must just be allergies. But how can I only have allergies in one eye? Every morning I wake up with my right eye crusted shut. It's very annoying. The eye doctor even gave me some eye drops, but they haven't done a thing to help yet.
