I must have been a bad girl....

...my Easter basket is empty..... The basket in the photo is old, I guess you could say antique. My grandfather had it made for me for my first Easter. That was 1948 and I have kept it all those years. It has kept its looks better than I have LOL! The white bed belonged to my mother when she was a little girl. It was her dolly bed. One year she asked my husband to fix the rubber wheels on it, which he did. He also gave it a nice new coat of paint and we had a little red mattress made for it. She was quite surprised and happy. The white blanket is the last one my mother made for me, it's is large enough for a Queen size bed. She put a lot of work into it and only made that one. The bed is far older than my Easter basket, and the blanket is new at only about 25 years old....all three are treasures and they keep my mother's memory, and my grandfather's, alive. Photo belongs to me.

@AbbyGreenhill This is what I think when I look around and I see all the stuff we have in the house. One day everything will wind up in the trash.

I have my grandmother's hope chest and it is filled with things she made and my mother made. They will all wind up in the trash after I'm gone I'm sure.

I have a photo somewhere of her playing with it. I don't know what will happen to all theses 'treasures' when I die.

@AbbyGreenhill the picture would be great. Perhaps you could leave it to a museum or a close family member.

How beautiful is that photo? All those lovely memories in one image how lucky to have something like that. I must have been very wicked as a little girl as I did not even have an Easter Basket. I did get the odd Easter Egg though better than nothing.

Those were really very nice reminders of your mother and your grandfather. They still look new though they have been used long time ago already.

i thought it was a crib for babies. this says a lot about the quality of the materials and the craftsmanship, but also how good you are at keeping them in good condition.

How nice that you have these items to remember both your mom and grandfather. That doll bed is so cute and I'm sure your mom had many good times playing with her dolls. The white blanket looks like she put a lot of work into it. Your basket certainly has held up nicely and they certainly don't make Easter baskets like that anymore.

The doll bed is extremely well made. The basket probably could use a dusting LOL

@fishtiger58 My sister has absolutely no concern for memories. She cleaned my father's place out and sold things that were supposed to have been given to me. We have not spoken since 2009.

Yes it is and my sister is totally opposite, she kept nothing - sold a bunch of stuff.

@AbbyGreenhill when my mom passed it took us 6 months to clear her house to put it up for sale. We kept lots of stuff and threw out lots of stuff. I would never throw out things that remind me of my parents, certainly wouldn't sell them.

Sounds like the basket holds memories that are better than any candy or gifts anyone could put in it.
