I love MyLot, I really do. But it shocks me sometimes how some folks will consistently give one word responses to your discussions. At least form a sentence! Ive seen a couple of simple "no" responses to a couple of my discussions.... And the worst part is it wasnt even a yes or no question! Lol.
How silly. Do you get a lot of these on your posts? Do you just ignore them or respond to them encouraging the person to ellaborate?!

I hate one word responses no matter where they are. Discussions. Texts, conversations. I think its a little disrespectful for someone to respond to an often well thought out post or text with just one word. So yeah I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Agree. But I think when texting it's okay to reply with one word responses since it's less formal. Then again that depends on the context.

I don't get those very often but a lot of people think that just by typing a couple of words they will make money. I think these are usually members who don't speak English well and don't read the guidelines, they are just trying things to make a few dollars. Sometimes I try to explain myLot to them but they rarely reply and usually disappear within a few days.
As you can tell, I'm very chatty, just the opposite!

@definitelynotaziz Thats a good point about the language barrier. I hadnt thought of that angle, thank you. And I agree....since we can talk about almost anything and its largely anonymous...I am much chattier too. Lol

Yes. For me, I'm usually not this chatty in person when I'm talking to my friends or other people but for some reason it's more comfortable for me to talk more in these discussion sites.
As far as the language barrier I think that if they really want to write, it wouldn't really matter for them. They would find the way to translate the language, even if it requires extra effort, and eventually send out what they wanted to say. Especially with translation services practically available in many platforms nowadays, I think it's more regarding the matter of how serious you are into this and how bad do you want your thoughts to be spoken.

I havne't noticed that recently on my posts but I don't post too often lol! Those people just want to earn money and actually don't even read the discussion at all.

Haven't made a post in awhile so I wouldn't know. I try to include multiple questions in my posts so others have a selection of questions to answer. I do engage people and encourage them to clarify their answers.

@maezee some people just don't put in the time and effort to interact properly.

That is very annoying, I don't understand why people do this. I mean, sometimes I write a paragraph on some posts and a three word sentence on others. But one word on posts, just sound awful. I do try to help the person elaborate if it happens, but I also sometimes ignore it but I know that will not solve the problem.

@maezee Of course! If they keep doing it, it is better to juts delete the comment than to do anything else.

i don't like one word responses. i try all the time to tell my view and make sense.. cuz we are here to discuss not to make fun of others..; so your respectful responses tell how respectful person you are .

It has been a while since I started discussions, so I don't really have that much experience with this. However, I definitely agree that it's annoying that people post one word responses. At least put some effort into it! I bet those people don't even read the discussions.

I love my mylot friends here. I am not the type of commentor who can provide 3-sentence response but my friends do. I love them because those comments allowed me to communicate if not delay, twice or thrice a week.

I try to always at least have one or two sentences when I respond. It makes it a little bit more thought-out I think . As far as with people I've spoken too they thankfully have done more or less the same.
