One of the groups participating in the Donnybrook Apple Festival street parade was 'Wasamba Drum Group'. This community driven drumming group is based in Fremantle, Western Australia. Their drumming is loud and percussive and, as you can see, the members wear rainbow-hued circus samba costumes. They put an incredible amount of energy into their dancing and playing and their happiness was infectious. The photo shows them during the parade. They also performed later for an enthusiastic audience.

I love drums. In the summer, they have a weekly drum circle in the park across the street. It's really cool.

I'd never heard of drum circles till we saw a film about an illegal immigrant who used to drum. It was a great film but I can't remember the name. Drumming groups seem to be just getting popular here.

I don't know if you'd call this 'samba' but perhaps you would. The name suggests samba doesn't it?

I don't think they needed an audience. The vibes were just oozing out to those watching. Impossible not to be moved in some way.

The marathon organizers should get them to play the music for the cheerleaders. The runners will probably break all sorts of world records.

It is great to participate or just be in the audience for these kind of parades. Sounded like you enjoyed it. Performers who create their art tend to enjoy it and bring a lot of happiness to others. Like the costumes...
