Rained Out, Sort Of

I left the dirty dishes for tonight and I got on my jeans and a t- shirt and headed outside. I knew the dogs would drive me crazy barking at me so I got their walk over with and fed them. Next I was off to hunt the pump sprayer, since Tony is sick everything is my responsibility to get done around here. I did not see it in the garage so I went to the shed, nope! So I walked around the back of it and there it was. I got it and walked back out of the poison oak and a round to the back door. I had intended to mow some before I sprayed but I wanted to check the water and oil in the Kia before I moved it out of the garage, since it was blocking the rider, I popped the hood and checked the water first, yes it was a little low so I went to the edge of the garage and where the shed join and got a bottle of water I keep outside if I need it. I filled it up, just a 1/2 cup low and I replace the cap. I checked the oil and it was fine. I decided to fill up the windshield wiper fluid while I was under the hood and that is when it hit me, a smell that I do know. Rotten - dead animal scent in the air. I slowly closed the hood and went around the back of the kia, got in and drove it to park at the back door of the house. That is the smell of a snake blowing at me, letting me know I was in his space. I came inside and sat down, disappointed I could not get the mower out cause I could get snake bitten, so I rested a minute and went back out to the garage / shed area. I had a small white water pipe and I used it to lift the gas jug from up on that mess, I can use the push mower! I no longer smelled that smell so I hope the snake crawled off into the woods. I got around the back entrance area mowed and the rain started but just sprinkling with the sun out. I took this as a sign to just go back into the house, after all I do have dishes waiting for me. How was your day?

Sounds like a rough day. I only did the usual and went with my better half for his eye exam. He thought he might not be able to see well enough after the dilation, but he could see and he drove us home.

Let me piggyback on what others said, "it's a productive day". You are a woman of all trades. From mowing to checking the KIA to the smell of the snake. How did you know there's a snake, by its smell?

Sorry you couldn't finish what you wanted to, but better not to get bit. I had no idea snakes had a smell. I don't think the rattlesnakes here do, but I've never been close enough to one to find out. What kind of snake's territory were you invading? Sounds to me like the snake was invading yours.

It's interesting that snakes give off a smell. Is it only some snakes? I don't think ours do this. I've never heard of it.

It rained hard here last night. We badly needed it because of the extremely hot weather. It's a slow day here are at work.
