A little of this, and a little of that.

There's so much going on, and I don't have the energy to go into now, but I did get to see my grandmother for the first time since she went into an assisted living facility about a month ago. A lot of you know, I live 2 1/2 hours away from her. She's my late mother's mom, but my dad (who also lives 2 1/2 hrs. away) takes really good care of her. Since my sister was busy today, he drove the 2 1/2 hours to take my grandmother to the doctor, and so I went with him. Afterwards, I finally got to go see my sister, BIL, and niece and nephew. You know how much I've wanted to see those kiddos, and haven't since Christmas. My sister and BIL live about 30/35 minutes away from where my grandmother lives right now. So the trip to see them afterwards was a blessing to have. We did take her by to see her son, my awful uncle, but I'll go into that later. He's back in the hospital, and although the housekeeper who stole from my grandmother's home quit a few days ago, she recently decided she'd still help. Which is hurting our chances of ever getting him into a nursing home. FIVE home health agencies turned him down. They said they are sorry, but someone with his ailments NEEDS to be in a nursing home. And the hospital will let you check yourself out against medical advice as long as someone is willing to take him home, he can go home. And the housekeeper is back, so... But I was glad to see my grandmother, and that's what's important. She spent a lot of time excusing him, and his bad behavior, and that's still sad to hear. My dad's such a good guy. I don't think my grandmother realizes how special he is. I can't even tell you how much he does for her. My mom would be proud of him.

The love and respect you have for your parents shows in the way you often speak of them. They raised two very special women, you and your sister.

There is no way to get your grandmother to change her view about the awful guy. The more you say bad things about him, the more she will defend him. I think it takes a special wisdom for a mother to see her children as they are. Hope your dad will not get discouraged about it. He sure is a great guy to take care of her mother-in-law.

Yes, your dad is a good guy, for still taking the time to assist your grandmother. Sometimes, the old people cannot remember the goodness of the person already. They stuck into their minds some bad habits and good things done are put to waste by them.

It is a shame the house-keeper is back on board. Quite possibly your uncle will annoy her so much she'll go again. It's great that you got to see your grandmother.

I found out some disturbing info about the housekeeper, and I think I'm going to ask some advice about it in my next post. Yes, I was so glad to see her. I brought her a picture of me, her, my late Papaw, and my late mother, the last time we were all at church together. I had a frame already, so I gave that to her today and she loved it.

Did I miss something? When did your sister get another child? Last I had heard they were trying to adopt again but I thought it hadn't worked out?

The adoption isn't final, and she's really funny about me not mentioning him. She might not mind now though.

@AmbiePam maybe she's funny about it because it's not final yet? Hope it works out for them. How does Amyra get along with him?

i will never understand how a mother can choose to think the one thats more trouble and never helps is as worthy of her attention. my daughter here is better to me and that is why i am better to her also. she gets the most of my care. the rest don't really seem as concerned

What a touching story, I love that you love your dad and grandma. I wish I had a couple of old family folks to visit with but I'm actually the oldest now... that's almost scary...
