Tests Or Lessons Or Just One Of Those Things?

Deep thoughts for a Thursday, but, here I sit with them. Do you believe in signs? Something that could explain why something has happened or is happening? I think we look for things to explain why something is happening when we just don't understand why it is happening. Lately I am looking for signs...trying to explain certain things to myself. I suppose it could just be that things happen because they do. And that there is no rhyme or reason to anything. But I always look for a reason. I always wonder, is something happening because it is a test or a lesson to be learned? How do you look at happenings or events in your life? Do you also wonder if something is a test or a lesson? Or do you just figure it is one of those things? Photo is of a sunset sky I took from my garden.

I also look for signs - then I am skeptical about whether it really is a sign.

Yes, I believe in signs and sometimes, with something unpleasant happens I think that if happened it was to prevent to do something that could have been even more unpleasant.

Sometimes I do look and ask for the reasons of one event or another. Cannot be sure always and yet sometimes I know that things have happened or will happen for a reason.

@bluesa Yes in one instance I knew that something would turn out but I never even knew why I took that attitude and its as if I already knew how things would be. I was not certain of course at the time.

I must be strange, because I don't look for signs. Life happens to us all, and we must be strong to carry on as best we could, even retrospectively.

@bluesa I'm not strong. I'm such a basket case, but I manage to get through things somehow. We must find a way to be strong for our loved ones which we do. For ourselves, it's a different matter.

I just figure it is one of those things. I believe that whatever happens in my life, good or bad is permitted by God for a reason, and the reason is always for my own good. It could be to test my faith in Him, or to teach me a lesson so I could be a better person.

I do believe in signs. Sometimes I'm looking for one, and during those times I wonder if it's right in front of me and I'm still missing it.

that is a really beautiful shot of the sunset. well, for me, i seldom ask for signs, but when i wish for something and it comes, i can feel the lightness in me, and the sighing, that sometimes, i see a sign of 'approval' of my wish.

Sometimes I wonder that too! Certain situations where I do the right thing, even though it was more advantageous to do the wrong thing. I wonder - is this a test? Is there a reward? Or would the "Wrong way" really have turned out bad in the end anyway.....
