Day 223 Proverbs 21:1 Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turns it whithersoever he will. 2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD ponders the hearts. 3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. Many people think their lives are in their own hands. They make whatever choices they please because they have free will to do so. However, they do not see the road to destruction they are on. Solomon, at one point in his life, was close to God. So close, in fact, that God asked him what he wanted and he, God, would grant it to him. Solomon knew the Law of Moses. He could see God’s hand in the ways of the people, whether they followed God or not. His conclusion was that God preferred justice and judgment to sacrifice. Sacrifice can be a show stopper. A person can get so caught up in what he does and how he does it that he no longer thinks of it as a sacrifice to God, but how the people look at what he does. His heart is in the wrong place. He has set himself on the throne of his heart. However, when it came to matters of justice and judgment, a person had to be more careful. He had to weigh all the points of the law to judge a matter. It was no longer a matter of show, but of conscience and what God determined. Yes, there are judges who take the law into their own hands, twisting and turning it until it does what he or she wants it to do. Everyone seems to know who those people are that pervert justice, and when their term of office is up for election, find themselves out of office. As Christians, you surrender your life into God’s hands. You accept that your ways will no longer work for you. You also know they never worked for you. It is in surrender to God’s will and ways, that you find the road leading to eternal life a bit less bumpy. Yes, Satan will strew your path with as many boulders as he can to bring you back to doing things your way instead of God’s way. However, when you keep yourself in prayer, aware of the enemies plans and strategies to lead you in another direction, you can bypass all those false turns along the path and keep to the straight path before you. Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it. Isaiah also said that God’s ways were much better than our ways. Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. God leads you. God prospers you. God accomplishes his will in you. When you realize that your choices will not work for you. It is time to surrender your ways to God, and allow him to direct your life. Let’s pray: Father, let your will be done in my life. I do not want my ways to get in the way of what you want to accomplish in me. Lead me, Lord, and I will follow. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
