My Neighbor is at it again, dumping trash...

In a previous discussion, I posted a picture of the trash my neighbor has in front of their home. It has been falling over to our property. I went over yesterday asking them, to move it off our side, the son moved a little. I had called the city and no one has followed up on my complaint. This morning,I heard noise out front go out and see the neighbor has pulled two mattress and put them on the side of our home.. I caught him doing it..I started yelling at him, asking why he put it there, we keep our side clean, this is not our trash. Well he hauled it across the street to my friends home, she is working right now, called in to the illegal dumping, hoping someone will come out. There is a big trail of crap in front of our home, from these old dirty mattress he drug across the street. There is some other stuff with the mattress, but how do these people think this is right to dump their garbage at someone else's home?

I wonder why the city council doesn't react. Can't you inform a reporter of a local newspaper or TV station? I'm sure they'd pick up such a story at once.

The city claims to be months , so they are in no hurry to respond. I wonder if a news station would even be interested in something like this.

Since you get nothing from the authorities you called, have you contacted your district representative? This is unsanitary, ugly, and dangerous. It is a health hazard, rats could make their nests in those mattresses. Have you called the health department? Look up what district you're in and call the representative. Ask him/her what to do or see if they can prod the right department to deal with it. Isn't dumping like this illegal? This is exactly how slums develop, when people don't care about their trash and how it makes the neighborhood look. You don't deserve that and neither do your neighbors!

@CookieMonster46 I like ML's suggestion to call the local news station. Tell them your neighborhood is turning into a slum and no one is interested in helping prevent it. It's the city's JOB to help you, YOU are the boss, YOU elected them and they work for YOU!!! OOOOOOO, government makes me so MAD!! They think we are the servants when they are the ones supposed to serve us.

@CookieMonster46 If this happened in my neighborhood people would raise a huge stink. We are not a rich neighborhood, more of a lower middle class neighborhood. No one here has any influence but we have numbers and outrage on our side when something is wrong. Maybe you need to organize like minded people and personally go see the mayor or your district representative.

@dragon54u Isn't it sad ,that you have to take steps to get things under control.. waiting on my neighbor to get home.. I bet most of you do not have this in your neighborhoods.

@CookieMonster46 I hope they get cited soon from the city. Why can't they haul it or get it dumped properly?

Since then the city has removed it, but they put more trash back in the same spot.. They were reported to the city by several neighbors. The most will happen is they will receive a citation from the city.

@DianneN she worked a double shift, came home late and someone pushed them further to her home, so they could park. The were left in the street, so now people walking down the street have to walk in the street to get around the mattress...

Wow that's terrible. I can't imagine why anyone would think it's okay to dump their garbage on someone else's property. It was pretty bad the first time, and doing it again just shows a lack of caring about other people. I hope the city follows up and does something about that because it's not okay.

This is just an easy way for them to get it out of their front yard , and let someone else deal with it. One person here does it then someone else does it.. I see it starting to happen when someone is moving, they put out a couch, , chairs , things that no good and just leave it there.

@CookieMonster46 How frustrating. It's not that hard for them to call someone to haul it to the dump. But I guess some people are just too lazy or too cheap to do the right thing sometimes...

I think if possible, you set up a CCTV in your premise that will overlook the front of your house. it will be proof that your neighbor is dumping the trash illegal, and with that, it is easier for the city to charge him for the offence.

@CookieMonster46 Maybe not the first offence, but definitely more costly for second offence.

There has to be something wrong with a person doing such things. No way it is okay ever to put such trash around another person's property @CookieMonster46

I don't understand why they just don't pay someone to haul it away, they have family that comes by with trucks, they can do it for them.

@KristenH there is a 2 time a year pick up for things bagged and mattress, they need to call it in a week ahead of time. They don't want to bag a thing or move things in front, can't put it on the side of our home, too much junk and not our trash.

@CookieMonster46 Good point. Most garbage trucks would take away recycling and heavy trash like furniture. They can call them to have it arranged curbside.

I hope the city or the police will deal with this matter. They should be charged for dragging their garbage onto other people's property. Some people are just disgusting.

Well! I'd say you've got yourself a real nasty neighbor! SUE THEM!! Go get a lawyer. What they're doing is wrong. It's got to be a legal way to stop them! If you can't afford a lawyer for something like this, tell them that you plan to initiate legal action. So you might never do that, but be prepared to follow through. Don't just bluff! Figure out if it's possible to follow through because you just might have to do it. Don't you have a Homeowner's Association for your community that you can complain to? Just throwing out some ideas.

Do they rent or own? I'd keep calling. I know it's probably not at the top of their priority list, but your neighbors are creating a nuisance.
